Sunday 24 April 2022

SEATON SANDS HARTLEPOOL 24, APRIL 2022.

It was Sunday evening.
Beach Buoy and Another Dog arrived at
6-22 p.m.
The weather could be described as overcast, dull and blowy.

A few people milled about to the north.

A dog walker walked the water's edge heading south.

A random shaft of sunlight illuminated one lone wind turbine.

They must have been around half way along the dunes before the skylarks came within earshot.
The song was faint.
It was carried inland by the wind and muffled by the sound of an angry sea.

Sea Pottery.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog headed to Stubborn Dog Stack.
Beach Buoy placed the recently collected stones.
He patted
THE
stone
"Evening Mate."

Beach Buoy faffed on and watched the sea.
A figure appeared near the stack.

It was the dog walker from earlier.
He placed a stone on the stack.
"That must be Another Dog?"
It turned out it was a twitter follower.
They shook hands and had a lovely chat as the dog walker's dog dug holes in the dunes.
They chatted a while, then went in separate directions
The followers didn't follow one another.
Stubborn Dog was given a
"See you mate."

Beach Buoy and Another Dog continued south.
"Elvis Costello" from the other night was up ahead.
Minutes later
"Elvis had left the beach, choosing to head up onto the pier and away.
Beach Buoy rotated and began to head back.

In the end the follower was followed.

Beach Buoy gave his mate, The Sea Serpent a wave. The sea waved back on the Serpent's behalf.

Rays of sunlight searched beyond the dunes.

A hi viz line approached.
It was The German Shepard Owners Club.
Beach Buoy hadn't seen them for months.
They always looked like a police search team, looking for the weapon.
The choice of dog breed only added to the effect.

Up ahead three young lads sat on a driftwood bench.
They were all dressed in all black with hoods up.
The looked like sunshine shadows that had missed the bus home.
Beach Buoy reached the promenade as a jogger ran by in the style of an equestrian horse.
Beach Buoy headed back in the van.
"Elvis." had chosen to walk a circular route.
There he was by Tees Rd picking litter as he went.
Flamboyant hats off to "Elvis."
"Thankyouverymuch."
