SEATON SANDS (CAR PARK) 30 SEPT 2020.

Beach Buoy and Stubborn Dog arrived at a wet beach car park
 at 6-05 pm.
It was raining.
Stubborn  Dog would not leave the warmth of the van.

The End.

BEACH BUOY.

Tuesday 29 September 2020

SEATON SANDS, HARTLEPOOL 29 SEPT. 2020 .

They reached the beach at 5-20 pm.
It was a glorious late afternoon.
The breeze from the south west was magnificent.

The sky blue sky provided the perfect backdrop for the selection of white cloud that were on show .

They headed  south.

The beach was like a blank canvas...

Beach Buoy saw a smiley face.

What did you see?

Kissing Clouds.

They stacked the stack.

They had a slow walk back, while others claimed the dunes.

The beach was fairly quiet as the sun readied itself for bed.

A much needed walk was coming to an end..

Monday 28 September 2020

SEATON SANDS, HARTLEPOOL 28 SEPTEMBER 2020.

Monday 6-02pm

Beach Buoy and Stubborn Dog were on the beach.

It was a lovely mild evening.

The sea still had a little anger in it.

Some people swam.

Some people had their Kayaks out on the sea.

A dozen or so Gulls stood down at the water's edge.
A lone Oyster Catcher walked away from the them
like some silent film villain that had  just done a dastardly deed, making good his escape as he hid behind his black
cloak.

They stacked the stack.
They gave The Sea Serpent a wave as he twisted and turned near his marker out in the bay.

Three of  four Kayakers headed for the car park.

The Church bells rang out for 7 pm.

The daylight was fading quickly.

The Moon and the lights of South Gare Pier glowed to the South.

Sunday 27 September 2020

SEATON SANDS x 2 .. 27 SEPTEMBER 2020.

Beach Buoy and Stubborn Dog arrived at 6-35 am.
The car park was deserted.
The wind was still strong.
The sand gave a clue to both its strength and direction.
Beach Buoy carried Stubborn Dog down the ramp.
They were both being sand-blasted.

They headed for the water's edge.
The sea and the morning were wild.
Stubborn Dog was a reluctant walker.
Not just his usual stubbornness.
Beach Buoy  thought it best to call a halt to the walk.
He picked up his little mate and carried him back to the van.

Beach Buoy drove down to the sea front, opposite the village green.
He sat next to Stubborn Dog on the bench seat in the rear of the van.
Stubborn Dog fell asleep as Beach Buoy drank a coffee and watched the grey rough sea roll in.

After a grey and windy weekend, the sun finally came out around 4pm.

They headed for the beach once more at 6pm
(Free Parking time.)

A couple were heading back up the ramp from the beach.
Both of them had  two large driftwood pieces in their arms.
The back of a Transit van was opened and they and their haul were gone.

The tide and the sun were both out.
The brightness was welcome after wall to wall grey.

The beach was no where near busy,  most of those on the beach were heading home.

Beach Buoy was heading south.

Clouds hovered  over the bay's wind turbines.

One Man and his dog.

The Sun began to settle behind the dunes.

They stacked the stack.

A slow walk back.

 THE END.
End of the beach,
End of the day,
End of the summer.

BEACH BUOY.

Saturday 26 September 2020

SEATON SANDS, HARTLEPOOL AND A JAUNT OVER TO THE HEADLAND LATER IN THE DAY. 26 SEPTEMBER 2020.

Beach Buoy and his mate Stubborn Dog arrived at an empty, wind-swept car park at 6-57 am.
As they had waited at the junction of Elizabeth Way to drive to the beach, a BMW had flown along the Tees Rd and had just about managed to land safely at Seaton Carew International Airport.

The Church Bells rang out for 7am as they approached the access ramp.

The 7am club were on the ball time-wise and had just passed the car park.

Our intrepid duo headed  for the water's edge.
The tide was low, the wind was biting, the sea angry.

They headed along the water's edge.
The sea would rush at random and claim 30 or 40 metres at a time, then rush out, just as much, just as quickly.

The 7am club passed at a distance, they were on the strand line  Beach Buoy was on the unpredictable water's edge.
One of the club shouted 'MORNING!'
Beach Buoy reciprocated.
The 'Mornings' headed off towards Redcar, carried by the wind.
Waves were exchanged between the two passing parties; more waves on a stormy day.

They stacked the stack, remembered the past and pondered the future.
They returned to the beach and headed for the North Gare Pier.
The strip of sand that allowed beach access was only narrow.
A run on the sea of 30 or 40 metres would see them making a rush for the grey rocks for safety.
They erred on the side of caution and began to head back.

Seaweed in the style of Lowry joined them for the walk back.

They headed  back to the van.

They drove to a different car park to enjoy their coffee.

The van's central heating was fired up.

A distant metal detectorist looked like a member of The Borrowers family walking the promenade wall as opposed to a full size version walking his sad and lonely beach in the hope of cashing in on someone else's misfortune.

Later that day....
over on the headland...
'Are we going for a walk or are you going to sit and pour more coffee down your neck?'

They went for that coffee-less walk.
Some walked on the Pier!

A person ducks to avoid the waves..
That'll work
I think that could be the grim reaper off to collect him?

Beach Buoy has many sea pilots on his family tree.

Across the harbour entrance.
To the left of the lifeboat station is the factory where Beach Buoy served his time.
A stones throw from the beach.
Some lunchtimes they would go out and do just that.

To the right; a factory were Beach Buoy ended up years later.

They all had nap after their Headland excursion.
Some naps lasted longer than others......
The 'others' poured Coffee down their necks.

He said Preaching in Hartlepool was like trying to grow a crop in the sand......

BEACH BUOY.

Friday 25 September 2020

SEATON SANDS, HARTLEPOOL 25 , SEPTEMBER 2020.

Beach Buoy and Stubborn Dog arrived

at around 6-15pm.

There was a wild wild wind from the north east.

Beach Buoy carried Stubborn Dog beyond the soft, drifting sand.

They reached the water's edge, Beach Buoy placed the little dog down on the wet sand.

They headed south; the wind pushed them along.

What a difference a week makes.

This evening there were no footsteps to follow.

The beach was theirs.

Colour photographs, looked black and white as rain fell out in the bay.

Before too long the rain was with them.

They headed back into a wall of water.

As they reached the van, the sun came out to say goodnight.

Sanctuary.

Thursday 24 September 2020

SEATON SANDS, HARTLEPOOL, 24 SEPTEMBER 2020.

Beach Buoy and Stubborn Dog arrived at 4-40 pm.

Free parking starts at 6.

The third Parking Meter that Beach Buoy had tried was the first one to work.

A driver dropped off a lady with two dogs.

She walked the dogs slowly around the car park as the car drove even more slowly around the car park whilst the walk took place.

It seemed a little odd to say they least.

There was a fresh breeze from the south east.

There were two people stood on the beach; both wearing high-viz jackets.

One of them; a lady stepped forward.

She spoke in an American accent, pointing as she did so.

'Can you walk that way or that way and stay away from the water's edge ? We have a Seal going back into the water.'

Beach Buoy smiled, nodded and headed for the strand line, with Stubborn Dog in tow.

Beach Buoy could see the tracks that the Seal had made and glanced to the water's edge to see a large brown Seal.

Spots of rain began fall and drift across the beach.

Once clear of the seal zone, Beach Buoy wandered down to the wet sand, close to the water's edge.

They headed south and stacked the stack.
Beach Buoy put his cold hands into his pockets.
The beach was quiet.
The sky and sea were dramatic.
The £1 parking was money well spent.

The tide was well out so, they headed past the grey rocks, down as far as the North Gare Pier.

Driftwood sat up on the grey rocks chatting about the clouds to the North.

Beach Buoy spotted a Magpie up in the Dunes;

one for sorrow?

He saw another later;

two for joy?

Or was it sorrow Magpie back in a different location?

If they were different Magpies, the fact that Beach Buoy spotted them individually does that also count as double sorrow?

They headed back with a head full of Magpie nonsense.

The rain became a little more persistent.

Two hoods went up.

A mobile tent; with the rain hitting the waterproof outer.

The two Seal watchers were still watching.

The Seal had crawled so far then had decided to stop and let the sea come to it.

Sounds a bit like Stubborn Dog.

Seagulls hung in the air on the up draught from the promenade wall.

They headed back to the van, up the beach access ramp.

Later that night, Stubborn Dog read through the blog post.

'Do you have to tell everyone that I'm Stubborn?'
