Beach Buoy woke at 4-53 a.m.
The first of the morning's Gulls cried at 5-10.
Beach Buoy made coffee for the beach.
It was 5-58 when Beach Buoy and Another Dog left the van behind.
There was only one car in the car park.
The tide was a fair way out.
The was a slight breeze from the north east.
The breeze delivered a chill.
A jogger dressed in black came down the beach access ramp, then headed north.
He looked like a shadow on the run.
They walked to the water's edge.
The sea was still annoyed.
Beach Buoy hadn't had a pre- beach coffee.
He took sips from the thermal cup as they walked and searched the shingle.
The 7 a.m. club were to the north.
Two people were up by the grey rocks at the south.
It was cold.
Ice crystals had formed on a washed van windscreen when they had set off.
The sun rose around 6-15.
Always a wonder.
Never taken for granted.
The 7 a.m. club.
Beach Buoy and Another Dog headed up towards Stubborn Dog Stack.
The sandy slope on the dune edge was dusted with frost.
"Morning Mate."
Beach Buoy added some more stones.
He patted
THE
stone.
Beach Buoy drank more of the beach coffee.
The 7 a.m. club had stopped down on the beach opposite the stack.
Hugo, the distant wave lady's dog came up to say hello once more.
Mari the big friendly poodle came up too, not wanting to miss out on Beach Buoy's excellent neck scratches.
Both Dogs headed back to the beach.
Hellos and neck scratches complete.
Commotion over an almost silence fell over the stack.
Just the sound of the sea and the skylarks above.
"See you mate."
They headed back to the beach.
They continued south to Sand Martin Corner.
Still no Sand Martins.
Five or six Skylarks fluttered around like butterflies.
Claiming the air space while they could.
Some of the World War Two tank traps shared stories of what they did during the war.
They began a slow walk back.
The river didn't need them today.
The Sea Serpent couldn't make it today but sent his love.
X
A couple and their Golden Retriever slipped their way down the sandy slope on the dune edge.
Beach Buoy paused to let them go on ahead.
He faced the sea.
He closed his eyes.
He savoured the moment.
He wished he could press record, to save for other days.
Recall would have to suffice.
They left the beach for the pockets of people that were beginning to mill around.
They headed up to the promenade.
An imagined Post Card from Seaton Carew.
Having a lovely time.
Wish you were here.
Went out early.
Sat, people watching for ages.
Beach walked the prom.
He stopped to read memorial plaques to people younger them himself.
A tall elderly man cycled by on his equally tall elderly bike.
A younger man cycled north.
He was wearing shorts.
He had tattoos on the back of his legs.
Others walked the beach now.
Beach Buoy wandered the Sea Front.
The Beach huts and play area.
Lemon Tops at a shop featured in Ridley Scott's first film.
