SEATON SANDS, HARTLEPOOL, 16, MAY 2022.

It had rained from early morning until around 3 p.m.
Then it became a different day completely.
It was like a summer.
Beach Buoy had worried about the Little Terns and the Sand Martins during the constant downpour.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog headed down to the beach at 6-08 p.m.
Family groups had the same idea.
A couple of surfers were returning to the car park, boards in hand.

There was the slightest of breezes from the south west.
It was very warm, with a hazy mist framing each end of the beach.
Out in the Bay the wind turbines stood motionless and aimlessly.
Each faced different directions as if searching the distance for signs of wind.
They headed south.
Theirs were the first prints on freshly exposed sand.

The sea looked glorious.
Royal blue with crisp white edging.
Waves were breaking five or six steps out.
It was odd to see the sea so active but the Turbines so still.

They kept heading south.
A man with a "Dulux" dog overtook them as he walked the strand-line.

Beach Buoy gathered four beach stones for the stack.

"Evening Mate."
He added the stones.
He patted
THE
stone.
Beach Buoy sat on a large stack stone drinking coffee.
Beach Buoy scanned the bay as he drank.
He could hear the Little Terns as they fished just offshore.

From the stack, the beach looked glorious.
A couple came and stood looking out to sea, binoculars up to their eyes.
Baseball caps on their heads.
Another couple approached, beachcombing as they did so.
The binocular couple climbed the dune edge.
It provided a better vantage point.

The beachcombers head back to the north.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog left the dunes.
"See you mate."

The breeze seemed to have picked up a little.
The most southerly of the Wind Turbines had began to turn.

They dawdled along.
Beach Buoy kicked a beach-found ball for Another Dog as they progressed.
He took sips of coffee as and when he could.
Dog walkers came from the south and overtook them.

The more speedy dog walkers headed off.

By the time Beach Buoy had reached the end of the dunes, most of the Wind Turbines were spinning.
