It was more a question of when it would rain rather than if.
The closer the 6 p m. free parking came the cloudier it became.
Beach Buoy and Another Dog arrived at the beach car park at 6-02.
The light was odd.
The Sun wanted to put on a show but the clouds threatened to quite literally rain on the parade.
Minutes later they were on the beach.
In the distance was the tall thin elderly man with a tall thin elderly greyhound.
The tide was well in.
Beach Buoy gave a not so distant wave to his new beach mate.
Thanks to the height of the tide an "Alright there?" was added.
"Hello there."
There was a slight pleasant breeze from the West.
Beach Buoy and Another Dog headed south under a bruised sky.
The sun shone from behind the dunes.
Their sunshine shadows joined them for a while.
The sea was a contrasting colour to the sky, adding to the different seasons appearance of the bay.
Up ahead someone sat on the dune edge, watching her two dogs play on the beach below.
She stood up.
She brushed sand from her jeans.
She waved to two figures heading North from the Gare.
The group met up before heading back to the village as one.
A man passed by with two dogs
Beach Buoy and the man chatted.
One of his dogs stood shaking like a leaf.
The other smaller dog looked towards the dunes with a driftwood stick held tightly in its teeth.
"She always turns her back on me when l stop to talk " explained the man.
Beach Buoy told the story of the stack.
"Aw bless."
6-38 p.m.
"Evening Mate."
Beach Buoy added some stones.
He patted
THE
stone.
To avoid a possible soaking they headed back.
"See you tomorrow mate "
The headed for the sandy slope.
The dark clouds were rolling towards them.
The breeze from the west was now a wind from the north.
The temperature dropped.
Rain was already falling out in the bay.
Within minutes the sea would be as dark as the sky.
They quickened their pace.
They reached the van at 6-55
The rain began not long afterwards.
BEACH BUOY.
