SEATON SANDS HARTLEPOOL. 15, APRIL 2023.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog parked up at 5-53 a.m.
The cars of Team Distant Wave were already in their usual parking spaces.

A young couple leant against the Promenade wall as though waiting for the sunrise?

A small BMW pulled up near the dunes.
Two stepped out the car.
They headed for a spot in front of the dunes.
They seem to be carrying fast food packaging.
They set up camp.

The tide was way out.
It was overcast with a slight breeze from the north.
It was mild.

Skylarks sang as if trying to tempt the Sun to appear.
There were three or four cracks in the cloud.
It looked like the Sun was making ever changing faces.
They ranged from furious to curious.
From mad to sad.

Beach Buoy glanced North.
The 7 a.m. club were on the way.
Beach Buoy thought about the word "Mild." that he had just scribbled in his Beach Book.
Yet here he was in two hoodies, a big orange coat, a snood and a VW hat.
He sipped coffee.
It was needed, like oil in an aging engine.
Luckily a dipstick was always on hand.
The 7 a.m. club caught up with Beach Buoy both physically and mentally.

The 7 a.m. club mentioned the fast food encampment.
Beach Buoy reassured them that they had not long turned up.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog climbed the Sandy Slope.
"Morning Mate."
Beach Buoy added some stones.
He patted
THE
stone.

It was 6-32 a.m.
Beach Buoy sat with a coffee and Another Dog.
They watched as the 7 a.m. club carried on as far as North Gare Pier.
To the south, near to the dune edge.
Team Distant Wave drank coffee too.
The man with a Rucksack and a Rottweiler headed north on the beach below.
Beach Buoy thought about how odd it is that  you see someone on the beach for the first time, then suddenly you see them constantly.
They end up being a cog in the clockwork beach.

"See you mate."

They headed south on the beach.

Sand Martins put on an aerial show

They began a very slow walk back.

The Sun hadn't appeared but there was still splendid light out in the bay.

A lady with a Doberman dog on a long lead, came and went.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog took their time.

Eventually, they returned to the van.
Radio Tees.
Coffee.
The parking meter checker passed close by
Beach Buoy hoped that she found some loose change today..
