Beach Buoy and Another Dog reached the beach at 7-11 p.m.
He had been to help collect Borrowed Dog from the vets after an operation.
A blustery breeze blew from the north.
Beach Buoy had been out of sorts lately, for no particular reason.
The sea had been wild.
Beach Buoy could hear it as he walked Another Dog, pre-work.
It was another grey, misty and slightly strange beach walk.
They headed up to see Stubborn Dog.
"Evening Mate."
He added stones.
He patted
THE
stone.
Another Dog jumped up on her back legs.
"Evening Mate."
He had started saying this to
Another Dog,
to show her he loved her too.
No good waiting until its too late, when people and pets have gone to tell them.
"See you mate."
He left one mate behind.
A slow walk back.
Some others appeared.
Beach Buoy.
