Beach Buoy had taken time off with the intention of him and Another Dog heading to Northumberland for a couple of days together and alone.
It didn't happen.
They headed to Crimdon Beach, a couple of miles North of Hartlepool.
It was well before noon.
It was a hot day for September, the cooling sea breeze was welcome.
They took the footpath at the south end of the car park, passing the bird hide that over-looked the Little Tern Nesting Site.
It had been burnt down by vandals a few years ago.
It was nice to see it back.
One year, idiots went into the nest site with dogs and disturbed the birds, causing some, possibly all of them to choose Seaton Carew to the south as their new nesting site?
They have been nesting at Seaton Carew a few years now.
They cut through the dunes.
They headed south, passing wooden stakes that had once marked out the nesting area.
The Pier and Hartlepool didn't seem to be getting any closer.
It was hot.
The Little Dog was tired.
They returned north.
Another Dog dug a hole and sat in it.
She wasn't too impressed when Beach Buoy tried to help with the excavation.
Jumping on his digging hand with two front paws to prevent him joining in.
They watched the sea and passing dog's for over an hour.
A very wet Spaniel came over to investigate, before deciding to shake itself from head to tail.
"That'll cool you down said the dog's owner......
He could have stayed longer, but they headed back to the van.
Tomato Soup, Crusty Buns with thick butter for Lunch.
It was one of Beach Buoy's go to comfort foods, as it comes with a side order of a happy childhood memory.
