NORTHUMBERLAND 05.06 & 07 JULY 2019.

05 July 2019.
Beach Buoy had been to work until 3 pm.
Nothing was booked, no definite plan as such.
5 hours later.. already been to campsite to check in and time for a late tea beside Budle Bay: a
two minute drive from the campsite.

The Sun made a late show just as it was time to head back to the campsite.

06 July 2019.
As usual Beach Buoy was up at daft o'clock.
He and Stubborn Dog did a ten minute walk to Budle Bay once more; the tide was high.

After breakfast and a hot shower it was time to head off.
A check of the crossing times showed that today would be an ideal time to go to Holy Island. It would be safe to cross from 9-50 am until 4-05pm... perfect times for a day trip.
They arrived at 10-10 am after the short drive from the campsite.
First stop was a Cafe for breakfast and a coffee.

Then the Beach!

Then the boat cabins.....
A bucket list tick ✔️.

Beach Buoy was like a kid in a sweet shop on a trolley dash.

The Cabins were brilliant.

Some boats were the correct way up.

But then again.......

A Bench with a view...

Stone stacks down by the sea beyond the Castle.

Beach Buoy  doesn't think the Castle has a bad side?
It looks fantastic from any angle.

A good few hours walking and another Cafe stop later and  it was time to head back to the mainland with an hour to spare. It would have been nice to stay on the Island when the tide came to surround it. No campers allowed, so maybe one time a Bed & Breakfast would be a thought?

Next stop Berwick....Three fishermen were dotted along the Pier. A Seal popped up nearby by a one fisherman said to another; "Did you see the Labrador?'
Beach Buoy presumed that is the name given to seals in these parts?

Then a short drive across to Spittal Beach.
Spittal seemed to be a good driftwood beach?
Beach Buoy and Stubborn Dog had a stand and think.

Spittal Beach with Berwick Pier in the distance to the North.
A brew in the van .....
Then it was time to head back to Base camp.

07 July 2019.
Bamburgh was a couple of miles south from the campsite.
Japanese tourists made their way out of the dunes and thanked Beach Buoy as he stood to one side to let them pass with ease.

The tide was way out.
A hero Dad did the long walk from the soft dry sand near the dunes, with two colourful little plastic buckets to fill them with sea water for two toddlers waiting with Mam by a pop-up tent.

Beach Buoy and Stubborn Dog headed south for short walk, with a view of the Farne Islands.

The Farne Islands, just off the coast.

Bamburgh Beach looking South.
Kite flyers flew their large kites and they hit the sand with a thump as they made their way back to earth.

Then it was a walk through the dunes to get back to the Van that was parked just below the Castle.

Next stop.....Seahouses.
The tide was well out.. so they went on a wander...

Seahouses at low tide with Bamburgh Castle and Holy Island out in the distance.

Seahouse's Powder Store... well away from any houses.
It was a lovely afternoon.

Seahouses Lifeboat  ... GRACE DARLING
Next stop Fish and Chip Shop , then a slow 83 mile drive back to Seaton Carew....

Tired and can you see his face on his back fur?
