SEATON SANDS, HARTLEPOOL 16 APRIL 2021.

Beach Buoy and Stubborn Dog had set off on foot for the beach.

It was 4-44 pm.

The reached the beach at 5-04pm

A ten minute walk can take twenty with a Stubborn Dog in tow.

Stubborn Dog had been extra stubborn.

Beach Buoy plonked Stubborn Dog on the promenade wall.

The sun was bright.

The breeze off the sea was fresh.

Two women passed behind them.

"Went to the actual Post Office, they didn't know!"

Beach Buoy and Stubborn Dog headed for the water's edge.

There was a man down by the water's edge, but more to the south.

He annoyingly whistled his dog annoyingly.

Nearby, a Lone Oyster Catcher whistled; it wasn't annoying at all.

A family stood like lookouts, on top of one of the highest dunes.

A ship slipped into the North Sea without a fanfare, between the Gares.

The sea partially covered a sandbank, creating a temporary Island.

A lady jogger seemed to appear out of nowhere, as she headed south.

Beach Buoy collected some bits and bobs and headed for the stack.

The lady jogger headed north: the beach fell silent.

It was the 5-30 lull.

Parking charges end at 6 pm.

Beach Buoy and Stubborn Dog sat next to the stack as Beach Buoy checked and photographed the finds.

Stubborn Dog's left ear kept flapping over his head in the strong breeze off the sea.

It looked like a comb-over hairstyle of an 1970's footballer.

The beach was deserted, for a few minutes they were both a thousand miles away.

The finds.

They were about to head back down to the beach.

Beach Buoy noticed a couple approaching from North Gare Pier, walking along the dune edge.

He waited to let them pass, he hated having someone following closely behind him and Stubborn Dog as they walked the beach.

They passed.

Beach Buoy headed down to the water's edge, he gave the couple space.

Maybe they didn't like people following them along the beach too?

They walked as far south as the high tide would allow.

By the time they turned to begin their slow walk back, the couple were way off in the distance mixed in with the 6 pm free park clan.

Back to the south, on the other side of the river there seemed to be a motorhome / camper van meet up?

The slow walk back.

The beach began to fill up a little more.

People.

Dogs.

Horses.

Four people sat on blanket on the dune edge.

Girls giggled at the end of the promenade.

Beach Buoy and Stubborn Dog crossed the car park as they began the walk back.

Gulls circled above the clock tower's seating areas like vultures, waiting to swoop onto that chip that just couldn't quite make it.
