SUNDAY 03 JAN. 2021. SEATON SANDS, HARTLEPOOL.

Beach Buoy woke just after 6 am.

It sounded like someone had decided to power-wash the bedroom window.

It was rain.

Beach Buoy laid, listening to the rain.

He felt like a filling in a mattress and duvet sandwich.

He drifted back off to sleep.

Just after 7, he headed downstairs.

Coffee was made.

Beach Buoy and Stubborn Dog left the house around 8 am.

The street had made a good job of Christmas lights, but this morning only one remained.

A lone white star flashed on and off above a garage door.

Beach Buoy half expected three wise men to come wandering down the street with one of them moaning about how it was 'All too soon.'

They arrived in the car park at BOB o'clock; 8-08 am.

There was wind from the north east.

Beach Buoy placed Stubborn Dog on the floor.

'Walk?'

'Nope.'

Beach Buoy carried Stubborn Dog to the end of the access ramp.

Beach Buoy placed  Stubborn Dog on the sand.

'Walk?'

'Nope.'

Beach Buoy carried Stubborn Dog to the water's edge.

Beach Buoy placed Stubborn Dog on the wet sand.

'Walk?

' Suppose so, but it does look like rain........'

They headed south.

The scene out in the bay was stunning.

Rainfall travelled across the bay, with the light of a struggling sunrise to add contrast to the spectacle.

Beach Buoy watched as the precipitation moved south as well as closer.

This south-westerly route had Beach Buoy hoping that it would hit land on the other side off the river, thus missing him and his beach mate.

The colours were beautiful.

The rainfall dramatic.

Beach Buoy could have stood there all day.

Stubborn Dog knew that feeling well.

The wind picked up as it changed direction.

The rainfall was now clearly heading for them.

Stand or walk?

Stand or walk?

The birds seemed to know best, as they fled away to the north.

Beach Buoy and Stubborn Dog followed suit.

Closer and closer it came.

Dog walker in for a soaking.

They reached the van a few minutes later than would have been ideal.

The rain bounced on the roof as Beach Buoy drank a hot coffee.

Raindrops shivered in the wind on the window's wind deflector.

Promenade people walked the Promenade.

Joggers jogged.

The Hungry Seagull arrived.

The sun came out.

BEACH BUOY.
