Beach Buoy was drawn to the water's edge by the sight of a Seal in the water.
The Seal rose and fell as the waves began to break near to its location. The sea was not rough at all. It was rippled, the waves were breaking about four or five steps out. They headed to the North Gare Pier and in doing so unintentionally disturbed a Lone Oyster Catcher. The Bird flew off after giving a whistle and landed beside three Large Seagulls as though they were his security team. They turned at North Gare Pier and slowly headed back North. The 7 am Club were approaching in the distance down by the water's edge. Beach Buoy and Stubborn Dog were up on the strand line collecting some beach clean items as they headed back. Mari the Large Friendly Poodle was away from the rest of the 7 am club and trotted along the strand-line to meet Beach Buoy and Stubborn Dog. She leaned in for the usual neck scratch then was off. Then she was back, this time neck scratch and ear rub, then she was off. Then she was back, neck scratch, ear rub and and big long scratches up and down her spine, followed by a pat on the side and she was gone. They headed to the access ramp were a late arrival for the 7 am club stopped for a short chat and her dog said hello with a "Wuff." "Thats her GOOD MORNING WUFF." it was explained. Beach Buoy and Stubborn Dog binned the beach clean, then rested on the promenade wall. Beach Buoy scanned the Little Tern Nesting site. He was both pleased and surprised that it had, on the whole been left undisturbed . So much so that grass had began to grow inside the coned-off area. Somebody had lobbed eight golf balls into the area. Could it be wayward shots from the newly open crazy Golf as people took Terns instead of turns? In reality it was way too far away. Another option is that Little Terns lay eggs that are White, Dimpled, Circular and come with the word TITLEIST stamped on them? |
