SEATON SANDS HARTLEPOOL. 24, JAN. 2024.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog reached The Esplanade at 3-51 p.m.

Not Beach Buoy and his little dog headed south along the sea front.

It's always a bit odd seeing morning beach folk later in the day.

Recent days had seen a storm.

There was a strong wind now.

It was blowing smoke from the disgraceful landfill fire out to sea.

The smoke from it can be seen on the above photograph.

Beach Buoy had planned to walk just as far as he deemed to be safe, turning back once he was anywhere near the dreadful smoke.

Six student-looking types stood at the water's edge.

They turned to join four others that were sat, seeking shelter from the wind at the bottom of the northerly beach access ramp.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog squeezed passed them as they headed for the sand.

Seaton Carew Village Green area to the north.
Thankfully the smoke wasn't blowing on to populated areas.

The tide was well in, looking like it had not long turned, heading back out.

A lady with a dog on a lead headed south.
A man and dog did the same.

Beach Buoy looked North.

The landfill site fire.
Beach Buoy and Another Dog had walked to the dune edge so he could better gauge the direction of the awful black smoke.

Others head back.
They had been well to the south.
They must have walked through the drifting smoke.

Smoke from the landfill fire drifts across Stubborn Dog Stack.
A distant wave would have to do this afternoon.
It didn't feel safe going any further.

Two ladies with a Labrador seemed to have had the same train of thought?
Just offshore a camera-shy Seal popped up then down as they do much of the time.

Light had started to fade.
Up near the Village Green, red brake lights matched the red stop light of the four way temporary lights.
Hundreds of Noisy Gulls headed out to sea.
A man with a hat with a dog with a ball passed nearby.
Beach Buoy raised a hand, like Fred Dinnage on the program How.
"Alright?"
The man nodded.

Beach Buoy took a drink of coffee as he viewed the disgraceful fire from the beach.
They joined The Esplanade at some beach steps near to the Wonderful Clock Tower.

99% Moon.

100% peace.
