It must have been around 3-45 pm when Beach Buoy and Stubborn Dog arrived in the busy beach-side car park?
There was a breeze from the north east.
It was slight but chilly.
The sky seemed to be full of dramatic-looking clouds.
They headed for the water's edge.
The tide was way out.
They saw the sea beyond the driftwood see-saw.
The sea saw them as they approached the see-saw.
It waved.
They meandered their way up to the strand line.
Beach-trapped water meandered its way back to the sea.
The low tide gave everyone lots of space.
They carried on to the south.
Cold hands were stuffed into jeans pockets.
A band of sunlight lit up the houses around the village green then began to light up the beach as it headed south.
Needless to say it faded before reaching Beach Buoy and Stubborn Dog.
They passed a family strung out along the water's edge like a fishing net.
Boys not Buoys at each end, each of them making out that they unable to avoid wet feet as the sea caught them out, accidentally on purpose.
They stacked the stack and paused a while.
Sometimes a good idea.
Eventually they returned to the beach, having decided to carry on south to the North Gare Pier.
The tide was out enough to allow beach access.
The sea wasn't rough as such, but when the waves did hit the pier, they ran its length as if it were unzipping it.
As he walked, Beach Buoy wondered how long it would be before Sand Martins would be swooping overhead?
The Skylarks were back, The Little Terns would be a while yet.
All signs of summer.
They all had become beach friends even though they didn't know it.
Beach Buoy is as happy to see them arrive as he is sad to see them go.
They had a fruitless mooch in the shingle that lay around the world war two tank traps.
They didn't find anything but lost themselves for a while.
Then it was time for a slow walk back.
The sea had began to reclaim parts of the beach.
Rock pools became sea once more.
The Beach.......
The tranquility was broken by the sound of a Fire Engine's Sirens as it travelled South along the Sea Front.
It was parked up in the car park, blue lights still flashing, when Beach Buoy reached the van.
Seems like someone had possibly been lighting fires up in the dunes?
BEACH BUOY.
