Beach Buoy woke at 3 a.m.
By 3-30 a.m., the kettle was on.
It was time for a new beach book.
Coffee was made.
Coffee was drank.
Beach Buoy waited for light to come.
Storm Eunice had gone but by 4-30 a.m. the wind had started to blow once more.
Beach Buoy made another coffee.
Another Dog slept like a curled up cat.
5-45 a.m. came; still dark.
By 6-10 a m. there was a hint of light out in the bay, visible through the long narrow window at the east side of the house.
No sea view as such, just a view of the bay's sky.
Beach Buoy made
x2 coffees
in
x2 thermal mugs
One for beach.
One for van, post beach walk.
He grabbed
x2 doughnuts + Beach Buoy =3.
Van loaded, he locked the house front door. To the left he could see the Bay's Wind Turbines turning.
They pulled into the beach car park
at 6-29 a.m.
The council's road / car park sweeper was just leaving; job done.
Beach Buoy reversed into his usual parking spot so that the van's side door was sheltered from the blowy breeze.
Daylight was on the way but the Moon still shone brightly as they left the van behind.
To the south, Venus too tried to hold onto the night sky.
They walked a stoney walk towards the sea.
Any soft sand had been press ganged by recent strong winds and been taken off to sea.
The Pilot Boat with Tugs
for company waited at the river mouth as a large ship took aim at The Gares from the horizon.
They headed south.
The 7 a.m. club were heading back to the north.
They paused to chat.
A big friendly Labrador became entangled in Another Dog's extendable lead.
Mari the big friendly poodle came to say hello. She had to put Another Dog in her place as the littler dog danced on back legs around her.
There was a new pup to say hello to.
White with one light brown ear.
" Nice to see you."
"Yes, you too."
"Bye."
"Bye."
The two sets of beach walkers, set off in opposite directions.
Beach Buoy and Another Dog headed south, stack bound.
"Morning Mate."
as the ship edged up to The Gares.
Beach Buoy added some stones and patted
THE
stone.
It was 7-08 a.m.
It was light!
Beach Buoy gave Another Dog a dog treat.
Beach Buoy drank coffee and put two fingers up to the world; two Kit Kat fingers.
"See you mate."
They continued south through the dunes.
Suddenly there it was; Sunrise.
For months it had taken place from behind the hills.
Today it was out at sea.
Jackpot!
The sun glowed as they headed towards it.
Beach Buoy and Another Dog kept pausing.
The Dog to sniff.
Beach Buoy just to enjoy the moment.
The river came in to view.
Gulls hung in the air in the updraught on the south side of the Pier.
Beach Buoy and Another Dog headed for the river edge.
They searched the shingle.
Beach Buoy drank the last of the coffee as he watched the river.
They headed back to the Bay.
It was blowy at The Blue Lagoon.
The tide was well out by now.
A beach clean volunteer sat resting on the dune edge as a couple headed south.
The orange clad beach cleaner continued his clean as he walked just below the dune edge, heading north.
An orange clad Beach Buoy also headed north, no man's land between the strand line and water's edge was his chosen track.
Then in complete contrast was a man dressed in camouflage coloured clothing at the water's edge.
He too headed north but at a quicker pace.
Beach Buoy checked back to monitor the sun's progress.
A dog called Pippa came to say "Hello."
Reluctantly, they left the beach for others to enjoy.
Coffee, doughnuts in the van
... Dog treat too..
BEACH BUOY.
