THURSDAY, 22 JULY 2021. SEATON SANDS, HARTLEPOOL

Beach Buoy reached the car park at 6-30 a.m.

The Sun tutted and looked at its watch.

Beach Buoy was a little later than usual.

Promenade people exchanged

"Good Morning."

Walkers, Dog walkers and cyclists alike.

The Tutting Sun was high in the sky.

The tide was a fair way out.

There was a refreshing breeze blowing from the west, across the dunes.

There were a couple of people to the north.

Beach Buoy headed south.

Up in the dunes, on its edge, a couple were sat on folding chairs, looking out to sea.

"Mr and Mrs King Neptune ."

thought

Breach Buoy.

Beach Buoy continued south.

The distant wave lady's dog appeared for his neck scratch / rub.

Beach Buoy made a fuss of the dog.

He couldn't see the distant wave lady; she must have been very distant today?

Beach Buoy was concerned that the dog had ran off earlier and that she had lost it?

Just then an early 7 a.m. club came into view from the south.

The distant wave lady was walking back with them.

The 7 a.m club were stood as Beach Buoy made a fuss of Mari, the Big Friendly Poodle.

"I don't know what it is about you?"

"Its not like you have any treats or biscuits."

"Its all in the scratch."

answered Beach Buoy .

"Aw look at the way she is looking at him."

said one of the club.

"Tell you what."

said her owner.

"If l kick the bucket, l will leave her to you in my will."

"Fine by me."

answered Beach Buoy.

Beach Buoy headed to Stubborn Dog Stack with three stones in hand.

He added the stones in some suitable gaps.

He patted

THE

 stone.

"Morning Mate."

He pushed all of the fingers of one hand deep into the sand.

To be closer.

"Really miss you mate."

Tears came.

Standing there and thinking those words are sad enough.

Say it out loud and it is more real.

It's a fact.

Beach Buoy was aching a bit today so he knew he wouldn't be sitting nearby to drink his coffee.

Stubborn Dog would understand.

"See you later Mate."

He began a slow walk back.

He passed the initialed driftwood that he had first spotted a few weeks ago.

MM

The penny dropped.

"Morning Mate."

It would be ideal for a bench at Stubborn Dog Stack.

If Beach Buoy was 100 % he would find a way to place the driftwood up at the stack..

Time will tell?

Maybe go at high tide, tie a rope and pull it to in front of the stack via the sea?

Beach Buoy and others, headed back to the car park.

Beach Buoy drank his coffee in the comfort of the van.

The Mobile Covid Test site were setting up as they do on a morning.

It wasn't long before there was a queue of cars waiting for a test slot.

Beach Buoy had never seen it so busy, so early.

The Little Tern Site was very quiet.

They had been chattering away down at the water's edge.

Beach Buoy went onto the Promenade to check.

He is two long flights and a bus trip away  from being an expert, but maybe they were all flying now?

Maybe the young were off on fishing lessons?

BEACH BUOY.
