Sunday 2 August 2020

02 AUGUST 2020.

It was Sunday Morning.
Beach Buoy and Stubborn Dog
reached the beach at 6-01 am.
The sun had risen but was hidden behind some clouds out in the bay.
It broke through every now and then and cast its spell across the bay and the beaches that edged it.
It was mild.
As they went down the ramp to access the beach, another car turned up.
It was a couple with two Border Collies.
They are beach regulars and always head North.
Beach Buoy went South.

It was a peaceful walk.

Rippled wet sand and reflections tempted Beach Buoy to the water's edge. Like a sailor tempted to the rocks by a siren of mermaids.

A Minky Whale had beached yesterday over on the Headland's Fish Sands.
It was saved and swam to safety.
Thankfully the Sea Serpent has always kept a pretty low profile and kept itself safe in the Bay.

They continued on to stack the stack.
The couple with a story of their own were a short distance behind.

They walked along the edge of the grey rocks.
A crow had a driftwood perch.
Word has it that he was having a sit and think?

Beach Buoy paused nearby and removed binoculars from his beach bag.
He scanned the Bay.
He looked over to Middleton Beach to see if anyone was visiting; there wasn't.

He turned to the South, through the binoculars he could see Sand Martins swooping around the Tank Traps and the sandy banks that provide them with a home.

Beach Buoy made himself comfortable, resting against one of the tank traps and tried to capture an image of the speedy little birds.

He had a mooch in North Gare corner.
A Seal Stone.

Beach Buoy collected six plastic bottles as part of his beach clean.
None had messages in.
Most had messages on but no one had bothered to

take any notice.

On the way back they found some 77 year old sea pottery.

They passed the 7 am club on the return journey.
Mari the Poodle ran over for a neck scratch with her Little White Scottie Dog beach friend in tow.

An old man sat on the low wall of the access ramp.
Half way up.
 Half way down.
He looked like someone whose chairlift had broken down.....
or up?

Beach Buoy returned to the van.
Kettle on!

He had recently replaced his sat nav.
( Apparently they are not designed to be stood on.)
The holder that he had bought for the older one was perfect for his phone.
So if there was a cabin up-situation and there was nothing on TV, he would be able to watch something on his phone.
Of course the van did come with Sky as standard.
