Sunday 9 February 2020

09 FEB.2020, STORMY SEATON CAREW.

Sunday; a day off.
Gone are the days when Beach Buoy would work ten weeks without a day off.
Every day off is a precious jewel now.

Beach Buoy had been up twice during the night.
The Storm wasn't to blame.
Beach Buoy and Stubborn Dog set off after 7 a.m. with Coffee, biscuits and no intention of becoming soaked on the beach; that would have to wait... (the beach not the soaking... hopefully.)
After checking out their usual car park, they ventured onto another with a better view of the bay.
On the way they passed a drowning wind-blown cyclist.

Beach Buoy rotated the front seat for Stubborn Dog.
Click here for film of stormy van  snug as a bug  Then click on film for sound....

The sound of the wind and rain sent Stubborn Dog off to sleep..........

While Beach Buoy drank Coffee and made a few scribbled notes for the blog later.
It was 7-47 a.m. and the bay was as gloomy as it had been an hour earlier.
It looked like it was in for the day?

Beach Buoy had been out in worse weather but it wasn't fair to DRAG Stubborn Dog out.
It had crossed Beach Buoy's mind to go alone, but Stubborn Dog would send him on a mega guilt trip when he arrived back.
They were parked right in front of the promenade.
Usually by now there would have been a procession of Joggers, Cyclists (The not drowning type.) and dog walkers.
Today it was just wind and rain that travelled the promenade.
Gusts rocked the van as the rain reloaded with more bullets, that went on to pepper the side and roof of the van.

Typical Beach Buoy ... spare everything!

By 8-28 a.m. it eased a little.
A man walked by with a bouncing terrier.
A council worker headed the other way cocooned in the cab of his miniature road / promenade sweeper upper.

The rain returned with a vengeance.
The van rocked.
The sea glass and driftwood that hung from the rear view mirror swung from side to side.

Eventually they headed back.
Stubborn Dog was VERY reluctant to move.
Nothing new there then!

Later, they returned to the usual car park with another dog in tow.
It was busy.
Couples in cars ate Fish and Chips.
They threw left overs out for the waiting Gulls.
Signs say PLEASE DON'T FEED THE SEAGULLS.
It had been a long cold night, so they were quite likely to be  very grateful  for some easy pickings.

They headed south.

The sun came and went as the clouds passed.

Stoney face.

The waves waved as the wind hi-fived it and slapped it down.
There was a hint of a rainbow over the headland and sea spray rainbows off the wind-blown wave spray.

They headed up to the dunes for a while.

The dune grass danced in the wind.

They had a slow walk back.

Blog was finally completed despite have to juggle these two, taking turns on Beach Buoy's knee.
