Beach Buoy, Borrowed Dog and Another Dog reached the bottom of the beach access ramp as the Village Church Bells rang for
6-45 p.m.
It had been a hot day.
It could rain.
Two horses and riders had just left the beach behind.
It was a muggy end to the day.
The beach looked pale, the sky grey.
People and dogs were scattered around the beach like random posts of a long broken fence.
The tide was more in than it was out, but there was still plenty of space for all.
There were no breaking waves.
The sea lapped the beach as though it were a lake.
A couple headed north.
They were ankle-deep in sea.
Hand in hand, pairs of shoes carried in their free hands.
A family of four also headed north.
Their happy Labrador followed, carrying the best beach stick ever.
A Large Committee of Terns held an extraordinary meeting overhead.
Another Dog almost disappeared down a dog-dug beach hole as she went to investigate.
Two ladies chatted as they headed north.
Up in a dip in the dunes youngsters had gathered.
"Evening Mate."
It was 7-15.
Beach Buoy added some stones.
He patted
THE
stone.
He sat on a wobbly driftwood plank.
He wrote wobbly words in a wobbly beach book.
Little Black Flies hung in the air like floating full stops waiting for a sentence to end.
Another Dog had dug a cool hole in the sand of her own
She laid in it
The two dogs seemed to be happy, glad to be out?
Perhaps contemplating a dog's life?
A couple with four dogs on the loose, threw one ball for the four dogs to chase on the beach below.
Beach Buoy watched as finally four dogs began chasing one ball northwards.
They were leaving.
"See you mate "
Beach Buoy and the Dogs returned to the beach.
A slow walk back.
Beach Buoy didn't notice the seal up ahead.
Once he did, he gave the creature some space.
The seal looked to be fine, just resting.
The man who walks for miles walked the water's edge and almost into the seal.
He seemed to have a real life shadow for company this evening?
"The Shadow " headed off alone, towards the car park.
A lady in a long dress, the colour of sand beachcombed her way south.
It was a pleasant visit.
BEACH BUOY.
