BEACH BUOY.

NEW YEARS EVE, 2023. SEATON SANDS, HARTLEPOOL

Beach Buoy and Another Dog parked up at 8-09 a.m.
They headed for the northerly beach access ramp.
The "Poppet." Lady from yesterday was stood at the top of the ramp.
She was with another lady.
They asked if Beach Buoy knew the phone number to call for the rescue of a young seal that had ended up at the promenade wall.
Beach Buoy handed them a BDMLR card from his wallet.

With the Seal Pup situation in hand, Beach Buoy headed for the sea.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog headed south.
The tide was going out.
The Seaton Carew Wreck was still hidden by the sea.
It was overcast.
There was a slight breeze from the south west.
Mr. Blabbermouth headed south near the strand-line, playing catch up with his dog.
He walked a walk that looked like he was going to break into a run.

Two Spaniels zoomed out of the dunes, chasing Crows.

A big dog called Molly came to say hello
"Hello Molly."
They continued southwards.

To the North, a Large Alsatian Dog on a very long lead walked the water's edge.

The sound of a car park car alarm drifted across the beach.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog drifted towards the dune edge.
He shared a half-distant wave with Team Mick Aston Jumper.
Mr. Blabbermouth had turned at the grey rocks, he was heading north, playing catch up with his dog.
The dog was trying find a way to reach a couple and their dog up on the dune heights.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog crossed the grey rocks to reach Stubborn Dog Stack.

"Morning Mate."
It was 9 a.m.
Beach Buoy added some stones.
He patted
THE
stone.
He sat drinking wobbly driftwood coffee on a wobbly driftwood plank.
It was a new thermal mug today.
The drink seemed to be hotter than of late?
He watched waves.
He watched people and dogs walk as far as the grey rocks before returning northwards.

"See you mate."

One last look at the view.
They returned to the beach.

They had a slow walk back.
The Sun hadn't shown up.
A three-quarter Moon still hung over the dune.
The Seaton Carew Wreck was just coming ashore as they passed.

Beach Buoy much prefers low tide to high tide

They headed back towards the van.

It was a grand morning.

They reached the van at 9-58.

SEATON SANDS HARTLEPOOL. 30, DEC, 2023.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog arrived at the Park's Car Park.
It was
BOB O'CLOCK.
Beach Buoy faffed on.

Beach Buoy slid the van's side door shut.

Nearby, a lady was just putting her dogs back into her car.
She looked over
"Oh hello poppet!"
She was talking to Another Dog.
They chatted.
The lady said her other dog, Jack lived to be seventeen.
It only had three legs.
Beach Buoy recalled a Jack Russell with three legs that was once a beach regular.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog headed to the beach.

The sand had a light crust of frost.
The tide was well out.
Two ladies stood at the water's edge, taking photographs.
A couple and their dog headed north.

The light to the south was lovely.

The photographing ladies headed to a less colourful north as swimmers headed to the sea.

The southern light began to arc across the bay, tapering off as it reached the village.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog continued south, close to the sea.
The air was still and cold.

Once again, Team Mick Aston Jumper walked close to the dune edge.

Nearby, without pomp or ceremony, The Seaton Carew Wreck began to appear from the sea.

Although the day was calm, at times an angry sea would hide the horizon.

The height of the tide meant no beach access to North Gare Pier just yet.

Beach Buoy took a more gentle route across the grey rocks today.
It was 9-01 a.m.
"Morning Mate."
Beach Buoy added some stones.
He patted
THE
stone.
The wobbly driftwood plank was located, then positioned onto the stack.
Beach Buoy had flipped it over so that the frosty side was facing down over.

The wobbly driftwood coffee was most welcome on a frosty day.

A couple walked the water's edge, heading south.
They did look like they were going to chance a walk to North Gare Pier.
A rush of sea seemed to change their minds.
They headed back north.

"See you mate."
As Beach Buoy stood to go, a man appeared on the dune edge.
He stood with his arms behind, looking out to sea
"Fair play." thought Beach Buoy.

The man set off across the dunes to the south.
Beach Buoy and Another Dog returned to the beach.
Beach Buoy collected some plastic bottles as a beach clean.

A young couple headed south, making footprints and promises.

The man who once had four dogs went by with three.
He had a lady for company too.
They chatted as though they had known each other for years.
Beach folk.

A Dad, lad and a Spaniel with a wagging tail walked the water's edge.

A family made footprints and memories.

The sea had released the wreck once more

Wreck timbers.

Another view as the sea rushed in as if reluctant to let go.

Another.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog headed to the van as a family tried their metal detector out.

It was bang on 10 a.m.
When they reached the van,
the village church bells rang out.

BEACH BUOY.

Friday, 29 December 2023

SEATON SANDS HARTLEPOOL. 29, DEC, 2023.

Friday.
Beach Buoy and Another Dog had reached the Car Park at Seaton Park
 at around 9-19 a.m.
Beach Buoy had waited for the strong wind to ease.
It was still breezy.
It was bright.
They headed down the northerly access ramp.
Two hoods were up.

The tide was well out.
The bright Sun had delivered some heat today.
One man and his dog headed towards the Village Green.
Up ahead a Metal detectorist scanned the beach.

A large family group, overtook then as they strode southwards.
Beach Buoy and Another Dog dawdled along.

A couple with a small black dog barked and squeaked their way to the north end of the beach.

A mam, heading to the water's edge turned to shout her young son.
"Come on Arthur!"
Arthur ran to mam and the sea beyond.
Spade in hand he looked like he was off to change the world or maybe just dig a hole?

There was no coffee today.
The sunlight and air would suffice.
No "Fun" size mars bar.
It didn't matter, afterall They still had the Moon.
How many planets does one need.
Beach Buoy had three already this morning.
Planets that is, not Mars Bars!
Earth.
Sun.
Moon.
Savour them, you'll be dust soon enough.

The hoods came down.
It was very pleasant.

Beach Buoy searched the shingle patches.
He crushed thin upturned shells with the heel of his beach boots as he walked.
It was addictive.
Beach Bubble wrap.

They stopped square on to Stubborn Dog Stack.
It was a shorter but much steeper clamber to Stubborn Dog Stack.

As he looked up, a Spaniel and voices crossed the dune edge.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog clambered.

"Morning Mate."
Beach Buoy added some stones.
He patted
THE
stone.
He sat on the wobbly driftwood plank, coffee-less.

He watched the beach folk.
A couple heading north with their dog.
One on a red coat, the other in blue.
"Rival holiday camps?"  pondered Beach Buoy.

A couple passed behind the stack.
"Alright there?"
"Hiya, alright."

Beach Buoy stood to go.

There was such a rumble from the beach below.

"See you mate."

They headed down to the rocks below.
A man stood just below the dune edge.
He was shaking his head as his large dog was trying to carry/push a large blue plastic drum along.
The two men chatted about the dog and it's antics.
"C'mon Blue!"
The man headed into the dunes.
Blue and a blue plastic drum followed not long after.
....and they reckon dogs are colourblind!

Beach Buoy and Another Dog continued south.
A family headed north.
They looked like a human Groyne.

Up ahead people walked the North Gare Pier like a tightrope.

Beach Buoy turned 180 degrees at the Pier.

It looked like rain to the north.
They stepped it out.
The rain came.
Two hoods went back up.

Beach Buoy did pause to wave to Stubborn Dog Stack as they passed.
Typically, by the time they reached the van, the rain stopped.

Breaking Waves

Beach Buoy was sat up at Stubborn Dog Stack this morning.
Drinking wobbly coffee on a wobbly driftwood plank.
He sat watching the breaking waves.
It crossed his mind that people break too.
Men and Women.
People.

BEACH BUOY.

Jonny Hannah.

A while back, Artist Jonny Hannah kindly gave Beach Buoy some artwork from his Hartlepool Exhibition.
The artwork was
Beach Buoy's guide to taking photos.
Beach Buoy sent Mr. Hannah a photograph of the work in a box frame.
Mr. Hannah noticed some empty spaces.
He offered to send some ephemera to fill the gaps.

A brilliant selection arrived today.
How kind.

That's better.

BEACH BUOY.

SEATON SANDS HARTLEPOOL 28, DEC. 2023.

Beach Buoy faffed on in the back of the van.
The Village Church Bells rang for 8 a.m. as he readied Another Dog for the beach.
They headed for the northerly beach access ramp.
A lady with a Spaniel was just ahead.

Not Beach Buoy followed behind Beach Buoy and Another Dog with another dog.

Not Beach Buoy stepped it out to the south.

The tide was way out
There was a strong breeze from the south west.

A Hazy Lazy Moon hung over the Village Green.
A couple passed by with their dog.
The lady had a long white puffed jacket on.
From a distance she looked like a snow woman or maybe a cloud, out for a walk.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog headed south.
The Seaton Carew Wreck had a cargo of sand.

Other couples headed north under the Morning Moon.

Team Mick Aston Jumper walked one of the last remaining gentle slopes where beach transitioned into dune.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog walked to the Tank Traps.
He searched some shingle that was scattered on and around the area.

They headed to the dune edge.
Off to Stubborn Dog Stack.

9-08 a.m.
"Morning Mate."
Beach Buoy added some stones.
He patted
THE
stone.
He placed the wobbly driftwood plank on the stack.
The plank was wet.
It didn't matter.

Beach Buoy sat watching the waves break.

"See you mate."
They returned to the beach.
A slow walk back on an almost deserted beach.

SEATON CAREW, HARTLEPOOL. 27, DEC, 2023.

It had rained and rained.

Once it had finally stopped, Beach Buoy and Another Dog headed out.
It was grey, windy but mild.

Beach Buoy plonked Another Dog onto the Promenade wall as he checked the beach situation.
It was around 1-50 p.m.

The strong wind was blowing from the south.
Shifting wind-blown sand snaked along the beach.

They did a short beach walk waggy tail wind.

Then it was back onto The Promenade.

It was very blowy.

Definitely too windy for Another Dog.

Coffee in the van today.
