| See the Date? 30 DEC 2013. A new Book for a Holiday to Italy. Fast or very slow forward two weeks short of 5 years and Beach Buoy finally finished the Book. Not the Book's fault or doing. Beach Buoy was a slow reader. Don't get me wrong, he can read fine. It's just he would rather be doing something else; the slightest excuse and the Book would be down. The Book went to Italy twice, it's been off to Scotland for a long weekend and taken on numerous day trips. Beach Buoy is no writer so could never criticise another's work. It must take so much effort. He did take Issue with something in the book about the Bombardment of Hartlepool in 1914 by the Germans. 104 years ago tomorrows it happens. The writer was way off with the numbers of people killed in the raid on Hartlepool. Beach Buoy contacted the writer and he said that no one had pointed it out before. There is a link to the Story below. DEC 16 1914 Beach Buoy informed the writer that it was still big deal around here... The book did make Beach Buoy laugh out loud a few times. The thing is if you are reading a book and you know that there are inaccuracies about your part of the world, then do you fully accept the facts for other places? So what next? The Salt Path by Raynor Winn is beside the keyboard. waiting to take Beach Buoy on another Journey. Maybe that Journey would be a quicker one? Beach Buoy does have reference books relating to Peebles, Shells and other Beach finds and these are more your pick up and flick through reference type of book. The book below turned up today. Maybe a future Camper Van Adventure? Applecross look out! Beach Buoy wants to see that Bay. It is the Bay where Monty Halls stayed to film a series there a number of years ago; its another Bucket List thing to tick...... The new book can wait a wee while. Looks like Beach Buoy is off down that SALT PATH. |
