MON. 23 JAN, 2023. SEATON SANDS, HARTLEPOOL.

Beach Buoy had arranged to go into work late.
An alarm would have sounded at 5-10 a.m.
He woke at 5-08.
Beach Buoy and Another Dog set off in the van for the beach car park.
They arrived at their destination at 6-31.
It was dark.
They headed for the beach with the aid of a torch.
It was 2 degrees, warm enough to ensure that beach frost had gone.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog headed south, close to the strand-line.
Beach Buoy scanned the route ahead with the torch like a broken radar beam.
Out of the darkness and into the torch's beam came Mari, the big friendly poodle.
The dog seemed as happy to see Beach Buoy as he was to see her.
They hadn't greeted one another for a fair while.
Beach Buoy made a fuss of the lovely dog.
Then it was off back into the darkness, playing catch up with distant 7 a.m. club silhouettes.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog continued south alone, together.
Beach Buoy selected a few beach stones for the stack as they walked.

7 a.m.
A work buzzer went unheard.
"Morning Mate."
Beach Buoy added the stones
He patted
THE
stone.
He looked out into the dark bay.
Illuminated Tugs
waited for an
Illuminated Ship
to guide it down an
Illuminated River.

 "See you mate "
They returned to the beach.

They stayed close to the strand-line as they headed back to the north.
The torch still scanned the way ahead.

Hugo, another big friendly dog appeared.
The dog enjoyed it's neck scratch.

Team Distant Wave was just visible.
Distant waves were exchanged as Hugo ran to rejoin them.
" Morning!"
"Morning!"
"Ruby looked massive from a distance under torchlight ."

The first cracks of light appeared at 7-17.

Invisible Gulls cried overhead as Beach Buoy headed off for an appointment with a dentist and what turned out to be a broken x-ray machine.
Start all over again.
