Beach Buoy and Another Dog passed the Bus Station Clock Tower at 3-49 p.m.
The clock showed 8-26 a.m.
The crossed the promenade with its frozen puddles of rain water.
The went down the beach steps.
Steps that disappeared into the depths of beach.
The non-tidal part of beach was frozen solid
A black dog playfully chased a brown dog along the water's edge.
The dog's owner waited patiently to the north.
There was a fresh but slight breeze from the north west.
Thankfully the tidal sand was soft, warmed as it was from the North Sea.
They continued south.
Light was fading minute by minute.
The tide was high.
Beach Buoy checked just exactly high tide would be.
In a minutes time came the answer.
Pebbles with legs ran in and out with each beach broken wave.
The sea was angry, the bay was foaming at the mouth.
A lone Gull surfed the breaking waves.
They carried on the water's edge.
The moving water's edge caught Beach Buoy out.
It would be a wet sock walk back.
They headed up to the dunes
The dune sand was frozen.
Footprints and paw prints now seemed cast now seemed to be cast in stone.
The route to Stubborn Dog Stack, again blocked by Sea Buckthorn.
They headed back.
The fading light began to play tricks on Beach Buoy's eyes.
A clump of Marram Grass looked like an old man having a sit and think.
Beach Buoy lit the colour changing light attached to Another Dog's harness.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a torch.
