SEATON SANDS, HARTLEPOOL.11.FEB, 2023.

Saturday.
Beach Buoy woke.
It felt like 6 a.m.
He hoped that is was indeed 6 a.m.
It was indeed 2-12 a.m.
He laid.
He laid.
He laid.

3-16 a.m. he trundled downstairs.
He made coffee..
The wait to go to the beach took an age.
He couldn't be bothered to draw.
He couldn't be bothered to write.
.
.
.
Beach Buoy and Another Dog parked up in the beach car park at 6-42 a.m.
A man with two Black Alsatians was just leaving the dune system to the north.
The man had a headlight torch on his forehead.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog headed for the promenade.
A member of  Team Distant Wave was stood waiting for another team member to arrive.
They chatted a while.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog headed for the water's edge.
Gulls cried overhead.
An Orange-tinted sea folded onto the beach.
There was a mild breeze from the west.

The tide was well in.

A gathering occurred.
Beach Buoy, the 7 a.m. club and Team Distant Wave chatted at the water's edge.
Mari, the big friendly poodle made a bee line for Beach Buoy.
Neck scratch completed, she trotted off.
She was replaced by Lola, the friendly Pug.
The little dog enjoyed  her neck scratch too, she looked up at Beach Buoy as though he was her new best friend.

A shy moon watched the beach proceedings from the safety of shifting clouds.

Beach Buoy paused
He watched the Sea Serpent.
He took deep breaths.
It was almost a week since his last beach.
Too long.
The sea broke nearby.
Only breaking into a wave at the last possible moment as it reached the beach.

7-20 a.m.
Saw them at Stubborn Dog Stack.
Beach Buoy added seven stones, for the week that had gone..he patted
THE
stone.
"Morning Mate."
He sat a large stack stone.
With three hoods up, he sipped coffee.
Team Distant Wave walked the beach below.
He watched as seafront windows turned to gold in the morning light.
A hotel was first.
The vacancies sign seemed to be lying as every room was lit up so brightly by the morning sun that they seemed to be occupied.

A Rusty Spaniel bounded up to the stack.
It's owner followed at a slower pace.
It was an ex-workmate of Beach Buoy's.
The chatted a good while.

The sun rose above the hills.

A large dog appeared.
It stared, weighing Beach Buoy and Another Dog up.
They did likewise.
It made a move towards them.
Swiftly Beach Buoy employed neck scratch tactics.
The dog leaned against Beach Buoy's leg as the scratching took place.
Another best friend.

North view from Stubborn Dog Stack.
"See you mate."
Time to go.

They returned to the beach.

"Hugo!"
Some of Team Distant Wave were doing a second beach walk for late arrivals.
"Morning."
Morning."
They went their separate ways.

It was a grand morning.
They walked to the promenade.

A lost hat.

A

found

hat...

 Another Dog.

A good friend indeed.
