It was 7-23 a.m. when Beach Buoy and Another Dog arrived at a skating rink of a car park.
A jogger set off north along an icy promenade.
A jogger wearing shorts.
Beach Buoy had trouble staying upright just walking never mind jogging.
They slid and skated their way to the access ramp.
The concrete slope resembled a ski jump.
Halfway down Beach Buoy half expected
Eddie the Seagull, to come flying down shouting
"Get out of the way!"
The bottom of the ramp was home to a frozen drift of wind-blown sand from yesterday's storm.
Even the beach sand was frozen.
It was bitterly cold morning.
Down at the water's edge, birds of many species, pecked at the sand as each new incoming wave broke then retreated.
Many would have been grounded yesterday due to the storm.
They will have been very hungry and very cold.
They headed south.
Beach Buoy was keen to check on
Stubborn Dog Stack.
It had been a few days since he was last able to visit his mate.
He was worried that the stormy sea had claimed the stack.
It will one day, hopefully when Beach Buoy has joined Stubborn Dog, meaning that they can set sail together.
The sea was still angry but the strong winds had gone.
The Distant Wave Lady waved from a distance as she headed north.
Beach Buoy did the same as he headed south towards the stack.
The easiest route to the stack at the moment.
"Morning Mate."
Beach Buoy patted
THE
stone
THE
stone
was
stone
cold.
He added a few more to the stack.
They stayed a while but not too long.
It was freezing.
"See you Mate."
A slow walk back.
A Heatless Sun broke through.
The Cold Sun glowed.
They headed back to the van.
"Morning!"
"Morning."
Mr Gunn / Nunn and Alfie were just setting off on their walk.
Beach Buoy looked over towards the Mobile Covid Testing Unit that had set up in the car park.
It had been setting up there each morning for months now.
The workers had enjoyed sea air and seaviews.
Today they stood on the totally frozen car park.
They looked like Penguins.
They looked like very cold Penguins.
Penguins dressed in hi-viz coats that most probably did lilttle
to keep the cold at bay?
Artist Liz O'Neill was prompted to share a painting of her local beach on a winter's day.
Newhaven.
Excellent work.
BEACH BUOY.
