EASINGTON COLLIERY, DURHAM 26-03-16. Beach No.17 out of a target of 52 for the year.

I HAD NEVER BEEN TO EASINGTON BEACH BEFORE.
IF A BEACH IS NEW TO ME I TRY TO GO AS THE TIDE IS GOING OUT, I THINK IT IS SAFER AS THERE IS ALWAYS A CHANCE OF GETTING CAUGHT BY THE TIDE.

EASINGTON IS A FORMER PIT VILLAGE ON THE NORTH EAST COAST OF ENGLAND, BETWEEN HARTLEPOOL AND SEAHAM.
MUCH OF THE FILM BILLY ELLIOT WAS FILMED HERE.

I PARKED IN THE ABBOT STREET CAR PARK AND HEADED FOR THE RAILWAY VIADUCT; HOPING TO FIND THE BEACH BEYOND.

FREE PARKING.

OFF WE WENT.

WE CONTINUED TO THE END OF THIS PATH , THERE WASN'T ANY SIGNAGE SO WHEN THE PATH FORKED... I HEADED NORTH. NOTE TO THE COUNCIL... A TO THE BEACH SIGN WOULD BE NICE.

THAT IS WHERE I WANTED TO BE.

AROUND HERE I MET UP WITH A GENT AND TWO DOGS WALKING TOWARDS ME. I ASKED ABOUT BEACH ACCESS AND HE INFORMED ME THAT IS WAS BETTER TO HEAD BACK SOUTH TO A BENCH AND I WOULD SEE SOME STEPS DOWN TO THE BEACH.

THIS WAS THE BENCH... IT WAS THE SECOND BENCH ON THE PATH.

A TRACK TO THE STEPS.

CAUTION.. THE STEPS WERE UNEVEN AND SOME OF THEM HAD BIG DROPS.

AND A BIT WIBBLY WOBBLY.

FINALLY THE NORTH SEA.

I WENT SOUTH AS FAR AS THESE ROCKS... HORDEN BEACH LIES BEYOND , BUT THAT CAN WITH FOR ANOTHER DAY.

DRAMATIC CLIFFS AND A WALK SOUTH FOR US.

WE WENT AS FAR SOUTH AS THIS.. I THINK THIS LEADS TO ANOTHER  BEACH .... ANOTHER DAY.

TYPICAL OF THE FINDS HERE; MERMAID'S TEARS.

#2MINUTEBEACHCLEAN ... IT WAS A VERY CLEAN BEACH.

FINDS.

THE FINDS WASHED.

BEACH BUOY.
