SEATON SANDS, HARTLEPOOL, 12 MAY 2020. ALLOWED EXERCISE WALK.

It was a Tuesday evening beach at 5-55pm.
The barrier that had been across the Golf Club Car Park had been removed.
There were five cars in a usually empty Cricket Club Car Park. (Usually, meaning during full lockdown.)
Tomorrow sees a slight difference in the lockdown measures and its looks like these club's cogs are in motion.
Beach Buoy tried to imagine how many were pulling rank to be the first to be  able to play a round of golf.
Members one and all.

Beach Buoy and Stubborn Dog headed for the sea as a couple headed for the dunes for what looked like toilet break.
The resort's toilets are still closed.

There was the mildest of breezes from the west.
Beach Buoy spotted a figure far off, up near the grey rocks.
Motionless, the figure stood ankle deep in the in- coming sea.
Had Gormley's Another Place come to another place?
Or was it King Canute in more casual wear trying his luck once more?

Beach Buoy and Stubborn Dog visited the dune stack.
Their question was answered.
The man just looked like he had missed the sea.
Maybe he couldn't wait until Wednesday, when you can drive for exercise.

Beach Buoy headed back.
The sea pottery will have said
MIDDLESBRO' and
WEST HARTLEPOOL.

They passed an upright piece of driftwood.
The wind had strengthened and rain was on its way.

BEACH BUOY.
