SEATON SANDS 09 NOV. 2019.

Beach Buoy and Stubborn Dog set off for the beach at
 6-48am.
It was a very cold morning.
The van windscreen was frozen, as was the sliding side door. Just over ten miuntes later they were in the Car Park; Theirs was the only vehicle.
As they reached the beach the 7 am club had already passed, on the way south.
Around two hundred Seabirds stood on the Beach in the dim light.

Beach Buoy headed down to the water's edge, as he did so, Mari the Large Friendly Poodle from the 7 am club saw him.
She came bounding over.
She jumped up and gave Beach Buoy's cold fat face a lick.
After getting her usual neck scratch she was off, then back, then off, then back, then off, then back for the fourth and final time.

The tide was well out as the sun thought about getting out of bed.

There was a low mist hanging over the Sea, possibly due to the sea being warmer than the cold morning air?

It was quite atmospheric.
The sea seemed to be sneaking in, undercover of a combination of low mist and dim light.

The Sun rose and went almost immediately behind a cloud.
Beach Buoy headed up to the dunes.
What would have been soft wet sand was frozen, but soft under a crispy crust, which broke with each step.
A after placing two rocks in the pile, he headed back to the beach, leaving cartoon-like footprints behind him as he went.

Down by the North Gare Pier was this very large float with around ten metres of rope attached.
Beach Buoy had seen it yesterday bobbing about in North Gare Corner amongst the crashing waves.
It looked trapped; it was.

Beach Buoy coiled up the rope after freeing it from the rocks that it had become trapped in-between.
It was as large as a Space Hopper.
Beach Buoy had visions of him and Stubborn Dog bouncing along the beach.
The sun came out and their shadows showed up.
The shadows lead the way North towards an arm of mist that seemed to be protecting village.
Ever vigilant Beach Buoy noticed that his shadow had found a float too.

Then the Joggers arrived.
They all looked as if the were running to the Sun.
One with a grey collie went first.
Then a Lone Jogger.
Then another Lone Jogger, wearing long black socks and not long enough black shorts, leaving two bare kneecaps exposed.
The final Jogger glanced at his watch.
'Yes Mate.' thought Beach Buoy... 'Time to buy some long trousers!

Sometimes sea glass will never look better than it does when it on the beach.

Sea Pottery.

Float find alongside a driftwood piece that was collected from Middleton Beach around 6am 01Jan 2000.
Beach Buoy wanted to be first on Middleton Beach this Century.
