SEATON SANDS HARTLEPOOL. 04 MAY, 2022.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog parked up at
 5-58 p.m.
From the van, Beach Buoy could see a yacht over near the river mouth.
It was unusual to see one so far south in the bay.
Someone in the car park was having a Bluetooth phone conversation.
It sounded like a seaside bingo caller was set up in a nearby vehicle.

They headed to the beach
Although it was warm, Beach Buoy opted to wear his old orange coat.
It was one of days when rain could come in the drop of a hat, flamboyant or not.
It was the brightest of lights,
The warmest of Suns
The Darkest of cloud,
Anything could happen.

As they arrived a couple of surfers were calling it a Wednesday.

A bit of a 6 p.m. rush ensued, as the free parking began.
Beach Buoy dawdled, as he does, letting anyone and everyone zip by.
Each with their own inner and external rush.
The high tide made it a busy and narrow beach.
Out in the bay, Soaring White Gulls looked like stars in a clear night sky as the sun reflected off them as they flew in a bruise blue sky.

Sand Martins swooped up and down the beach.
They seemed yo be making a burrow in the recently exposed dune edge, rather to the south at Sand Martin Corner?

Beach Buoy collected five beach stones.
They climbed the sandy slope.
The Skylarks piped them aboard.

"Evening Mate."
He added the stones.
He patted
THE
stone.

He spent a few moments  looking at the sea
"See you mate."

The slid down a second sandy slope
Beach Buoy sat just in front of Stubborn Dog Stack to drink his coffee.

The coffee tasted all the better for the tranquility that it was served with.

A hint of a rainbow appeared out in the bay, beyond The Sea Serpent.

The threat of rain had seemed to have travelled south.

They headed back.

Two Pebbles with legs
(Stonius Scamperus)
to give them their latin name, were just slightly ahead,
tunning to and from the sea as it constantly changed direction.

A young lady headed south with her two dogs.
The dogs ran to greet  Beach Buoy and Another Dog.
They were friendly.
"Sorry!"
"Don't be, there's no need."

They continued heading towards the van.

An elderly gentleman was heading down the beach access ramp.
He was walking an elderly greyhound.
The dog was black but the emphasis was on the grey.

"Evening."
"Evening "
The man pointed to The Little Tern fencing.
"Are the little birds due?"
They already here.'
The gentleman went on to say that they had fenced off the best part of the beach.
Suggesting that they could have moved it south.
Beach Buoy explained that the birds chose the spot a few years ago not the council.

Beach Buoy headed to the promenade.

Two twitchers rested on the promenade wall over-looking the
Little Tern site.

SEATON SANDS HARTLEPOOL 03, MAY 2022.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog arrived at the beach at 6-32 p.m.
It was overcast.
It was nowhere near as cold as it looked.
The was a breeze off the sea to the east.

They headed into the breeze to reach the water's edge.
The tide was high.
The strand-line and the water's edge were next door neighbours.
They headed south.
A couple joined the beach.
They also headed south, but they chose to hug the dune edge.
They disappeared into the dune system, maybe to hug one another?

The sea was quite calm.
Waves did break two or three steps out.
Birds of all types were noticeable by their absence this evening.

A piece of sea pottery came into view and of course into Beach Buoy's Beach Bag.

Beach Buoy collected five beach stones.

He added the stones to
Stubborn Dog Stack.
He placed the five in suitable spots.
He patted
THE
stone.
"Evening Mate."
Usually the dunes would feel more exposed.
This evening they felt milder, edging on muggy.

Finally the Skylarks came within earshot.
Beach Buoy sat on a larger stack stone.
He drank coffee.
He watched the sea.

"See you mate."
They headed back to the beach.

Gulls appeared.
They all headed over to see the Sea Serpent.

They began to head back north.

It was just them...

The wandered along the empty beach.
The receding tide have left them a blank canvas to walk.
They made their mark.

02 MAY 2022, SEATON SANDS, HARTLEPOOL

It was 6-18 p.m.
Another Bank Holiday was coming to an end.
Beach Buoy had been off for three days. For some reason the evening had that feeling that can show up after a long time off, knowing it was time to switch roles once more.
Think everyone has the off work us and the work tomorrow us.
To be continued...

SEATON SANDS HARTLEPOOL 02 MAY 2022.

It was a Bank Holiday Monday.
Beach Buoy woke at 3-20 a.m.
It was too early, even for Beach Buoy.
He woke once more.
He tried to guess the time.
5-05?
A look at his phone; 5-06.
A look out of the window showed that it was a grey start to the day.
No rush to catch a sunrise, it would be a hidden one.
Time to make a beach coffee today before setting off.
They set off.
The Golf Club Flag hung like a wet towel.
A towel still at half mast.
It was 5-32 a.m. by the time they reached the car park.

They headed for the water's edge.
To the north the recently arrived Little Terns chattered away loudly.

The air was still, down on the beach.
There must have been a slight breeze out in the bay, as the wind turbines turned ever so slowly.

A hopeful sunrise seeker stood to the north.

As expected there was no visible sunrise.
There was an orange flash in the sky in the style of some sort of sports logo.

A ship left the River Tees, followed by the Pilot's boat.
The boat would pick up the Pilot once the ship was safely in open water.

Shingle strips crossed the beach as they continued south.
There were a number of dead lobsters scattered around.
Beach Buoy gathered some beach stones.
They headed up the sandy slope.

"Morning Mate."
He added stones.
He patted
THE
stone.
He plonked himself on a large stone at the seaward side of the stack.

Coffee time.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog sat as The Sea Serpent twisted to the sound of the Skylarks above the dunes.

Beach Buoy stood up... eventually.

A one man 7 a.m. club had arrived just in front of Stubborn Dog Stack, down on the beach below.
Beach Buoy joined him on the beach.
It was 6-29 a.m.
They chatted about the dead lobsters and possible causes.
Beach Buoy gave Mari the big friendly poodle a neck scratch.
The gentleman took out a beach clean bag hoop and placed a rubbish bag inside the hoop.
Off he headed to the north beach cleaning as he went with his three dogs for company.

Beach Buoy stayed put a while, watching The Sea Serpent.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog began a slow walk back, their pace in complete contrast to the Sand Martins that were flying here, there and everywhere at great speed.

After a while Beach Buoy paused, he faced the dunes.
He recalled being here many years ago.

He rubbed his open palms onto his face as someone would when washing their face.
It was comforting, letting himself know he was there for him.
They set off for the north once more.

They passed a lady beachcomber and her dog.
The humans and dogs all said "Morning."
"She's only nine months old." added the lady.
Beach Buoy had not seen the lady or the dog before.

Beach Buoy beachcombed as he headed back to the van.

He was lucky enough to find a few nice pieces.

Others were beginning to arrive.

The sea water swimmers were having a pre-swim beach walk.

Beach Buoy headed up the access ramp.
Mr. Gunn/ Nunn was just heading down with his little dog.
"Morning, you look tired."
"I am." answered Beach Buoy.

Beach Buoy looked out onto the Little Tern Area as a kayaker and beach walker both headed south.

The Little Terns are the slightest of birds.

Beach Buoy went to the van.

A motorcyclist was resting on the promenade wall, drinking coffee.
"Thought you would have been away in it? he shouted before heading over for a chat that turned into an hour long discussion.
He had a van too, a T4.
600,000 miles on the clock and good for 110 mph.
They had the vans in common but were as different as chalk and cheese.
They got on well.
"£17 l paid for this coffee."
"What!"
"I had to buy the thermal travel mug with it so l could bring it on the bike."
He went on to say that if he sees a sign saying no overnight camping he will make a point of setting up right next to it.

"Must go." said Beach Buoy when he saw Mr.Gunn/Nunn return from his walk.
It was then he realised how long they had talked.

BEACH BUOY.

Sunday, 1 May 2022

SEATON SANDS, HARTLEPOOL. 01 MAY 2022.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog reached a busy car park at 6-40 p.m.

It was another pale colour type of beach visit.

It was a mild evening.

They headed south.
The tide was going out having peaked around two hours earlier.
A lady in a yellow coat watched her white dog and her white dog play in the sea before heading for the dunes.

As they walked along, the beach began to empty of people.

Beach Buoy gathered some beach stones.
They headed up to Stubborn Dog Stack.

"Evening Mate."
Beach Buoy added the stones.
He patted
THE
stone.
It was 7-11 p.m.
It looked cold but it was anything but.
The skylarks plus unknown support, sang over the dunes.
A crack of dull orange light to the west was the only clue that actually really was a sun out there somewhere.

"See you mate."
They returned to the beach.
They headed North, back towards the van.

The sky and the sea looked glorious.

A couple passed by, they wandered along to the south.

A family group walked the strand-line.

Beach Buoy found a tiny piece of sea pottery.
Beach Buoy met and chatted to a lovely couple. They chatted for quite a while.
It was a pleasure to meet them.

BEACH BUOY.

SEATON SANDS HARTLEPOOL 01 MAY 2022.

For the second morning running Beach Buoy woke
 at 4-18 a.m.
It was 5-28 a.m. by the time Beach Buoy and Another Dog arrived at the car park.
It had rained overnight.
It was dull start to the day.
The arrival of a ship had to try and make amends for the non appearance of the Sun.
Venus and Jupiter were supposed to have made an appearance too.
Instead of being side by side in the sky, they both rattled around in the same pocket of a cloud grey overcoat.

They headed down to the sea.
Three hoods went up.
It was an Orange coat type of day.

They headed south on a blank canvas of beach, each making their mark.

A parcel of Oyster Catchers flew towards the river.
The kept low to the sea.
Another parcel followed.
Like the seven dwarves, they whistled whilst they worked.

Beach Buoy had noticed the the Land Rover Border Collie Couple had headed to the beach.
They had chosen to go north after descending the access ramp.
Beach Buoy and Another Dog headed south.
Beach Buoy looked up at the clouds, finding faces and animals floating around in the sky, ever changing.

The sea serpent was up and about.
Up above the dunes, the Skylarks sang accompanied by some unidentified guest artist.
Beach Buoy gathered some beach stones.
He headed up to Stubborn Dog Stack.
A piece of sea pottery stood out as he had collected the stones.

It went into the beach bag.

Bubba was a duck from Australia.
He was such a character.
He passed away on Saturday.

Beach Buoy added an assortment of stones.
Bubba, those just collected plus a couple from Crimdon for Stubborn Dog to know were they had been.
They waited a while.

"See you mate."
They headed back down onto the beach.

Beach Buoy spotted another nice piece of sea pottery.

They headed back to the north.
Sand Martins worked the dune edge.

Beach Buoy paused as he often does
He looked out to sea.
A Gull surfed the waves
The 7 a.m. club approached.
"Morning."
"Morning, beautiful isn't it ?"
They chatted.
Turns out that people had been surveying the height of sand, loss of the dune edge.

They went their separate ways.
Up ahead, a beachcomber worked the beach.

The beachcomber was the yellow wellington boot in summer plumage. Not a yellow boot in sight.

The tide was heading out.

Little Terns chattered in the distance.
Beach Buoy and Another Dog headed back to the van.
Beach Buoy chatted to a member of the 7 a.m. club near to the access ramp.

Beach Buoy put milk on for a coffee.
He watched the Promenade as he waited.
Coffee made.
Coffee drank.
Another Dog was next to Beach Buoy, curled up like a cat.
Beach Buoy pulled up a hood, rested on a hand and nodded off for twenty minutes or so.
Time to go.
