30 DECEMBER 2017. SEATON SANDS AND NORTH GARE.

WAS ON BEACH EARLY MORNING; AROUND 8-30 AM.
THE SNOW HAD ALL BUT GONE.
THE TIDE WOULD BE HIGH IN AROUND FOUR HOURS.

IN THE DISTANCE, STEAM SEEMED TO BE RISING FROM THE BREAKING WAVES.
IT WAS A CHILLY DAY, THE SEA MUST HAVE BEEN A LITTLE WARMER?
RELATIVES WHO WERE FOUY BOATMEN TOLD HOW IN THE PAST, ON COLD DAYS WHEN THEIR HANDS WERE FROZEN, PULLING THE COLD, WET ROPES, THEY WOULD FIND RELIEF BY PUTTING THEIR HANDS IN THE WARMER NORTH SEA.

THIS POOR FISH ROLLED IN WITH THE IN-COMING TIDE.
I HAD ALREADY REMOVED A TANGLE OF TWO HOOKS, FISHING LINE AND A SINKER FROM IT'S MOUTH.
IT MUST HAVE BROKEN THE LINE WHEN CAUGHT BUT THEN DIED A TERRIBLE DEATH WITH THE GHOST FISHING GEAR ATTACHED TO IT BY THE CATCHING HOOK. AT LEAST NOW IF SOMETHING WAS TO EAT IT THEN IT WOULDN'T GET THE SIDE ORDER OF FISHING GEAR.

THERE WAS A VERY EIREE LIGHT OVER THE RIVER TEES.

OVER ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF NORTH GARE PIER YET ANOTHER TANGLE OF FISHING LINE.

I UNTANGLED THE LINE FROM THE SEAWEED  AND BEARING IN MIND MY EARLIER FISH FIND  I FOUND THE LETTERS
D O A
A LITTLE IRONIC
DEAD ON ARRIVAL.

AS WE TURNED TO HEAD BACK, THIS SHIP SLIPPED OUT OF PORT IN THE ATMOSPHERIC LIGHT.

THIS SEA ALLEY WAS CLOSE TO BEING RECLAIMED BY THE SEA WHEN I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO SPOT IT.

THE TIDE WAS RECLAIMING THE NORTH GARE END OF THE BEACH.

THE LIGHT WAS SO UNUSUAL, MY USUALLY GOOD CAMERA ON MY PHONE STRUGGLED WITH IT.
I HAD TO FIDDLE WITH VARIOUS FILTERS TO MAKE THE APPROACHING HORSE AND RIDER VISIBLE.
I QUITE LIKE THE OUTCOME.

THE SUN CAME OUT.

HEADING TO THE VILLAGE.

SAILOR?
DOG?
SHEEP?
I WISHED IT
R I P
AND BURIED IT IN THE DUNES.

THE SEA GLASS BALLOON.

Balloon Releases kill!

I have made a sea glass balloon to highlight the dangers of balloon releases.
The Glass, string and Star are all beach found items.
I hope to obtain much better photographs of it on various beaches with much better light and backdrop to make the message stronger.

29 DEC. 2017. SEATON SANDS AND NORTH GARE BEACH.

LOOKING LIKE A BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPH
THIS ONE IS COLOUR.
IT WAS SUCH A COLD GREY MORNING.
THIS CAME TO ME WHILST ON THE BEACH ....

A POEM
I'M ON THE BEACH.

I'M ON THE BEACH,
"HOW DOES IT FEEL?",
IT'S LIKE THE WORLD IS MADE OF STEEL,
THE AIR IS COLD AND ALL IS GREY,
THE ONLY PLACE I'D BE TODAY.

YET ANOTHER MASSIVE TIMBER WASHES UP.

AS WE REACHED NORTH GARE SANDS , THE RAIN STARTED.
THE FISHERMEN FISHED.

A LARGE TIMBER, LOOKING A LITTLE LIKE A DEEP WATER FISH.
NOTE THE COPPER / BRASS NAIL WHICH LEADS ME TO THINK  THAT THIS WAS POSSIBLY PART OF AN OLD SHIP'S KEEL.
THE ROMANTIC WORD OF SHIPWRECK SPRINGS TO MIND, BUT MAYBE THE THE SHIP WAS JUST LEFT, OLD AND ABANDONED  TO ROT AND BREAK UP.

I FOUND THREE BONES TODAY
AS ALWAYS I WISHED THEM REST IN PEACE AND BURIED THEM...
THEY MAY BE ANIMAL?- THEY MAY BE MAN?
OLD SAILORS LOST TO THE WAVES MANY YEARS AGO?
OR A SHEEP FELL OF A CLIFF TOP.
BLESS THEM ALL.

WE TOOK  THE DUNE  ROLLER COASTER WALK BACK TO THE BEACH AS THE TIDE HAD COME IN QUITE A BIT SINCE WE HAD CROSSED TO THE NORTH GARE.

THE RAIN TURNED TO SLEET.

THIS ONE IS BLACK AND WHITE, THE SLEET WAS BECOMING SNOW.

COLOUR AGAIN.
THE SNOW WAS HEAVIER AND WAS STARTING TO LAY.

I DID A #2MINUTEBEACHCLEAN BUT THE ITEMS WENT STRAIGHT TO BIN DUE TO TERRIBLE WEATHER.

IT WAS 2 DEGREES AND VERY FRESH .
THE TIDE HAD PEAKED AROUND AN HOUR AGO, SO NOT MANY FINDS TODAY.

THE SKY!

THE SEA WAS STUNNING.

AS THE TIDE WAS HIGH, WE CROSSED TO THE NORTH GARE VIA THE DUNES.

27 DECEMBER 2017, SEATON SANDS AND NORTH GARE BEACH.

A bitterly cold day.

Two dogs in tow today.
The Sea was wild.

Plucked this stone sea alley from an incoming wave .

Over to the River once again.

I bet the crew were very glad to making Port.

BOXING DAY SEATON SANDS AND NORTH GARE BEACH.

WE WERE LATER THAN USUAL SETTING OFF FOR THE BEACH, WHAT WITH ALL THE DECORATIONS TO TAKE DOWN AND PUT IN LOFT.
SO... MUCH OF THE MORNING THE DOG FOLLOWED ME AROUND PULLING FACES AND STARING ME OUT; WANTING THE BEACH.

WE ARRIVED ON THE BEACH AROUND 1 P.M.
A POEM.
WE'VE SAID "GOODBYE" TO BOXING DAY DIPPERS,
THE BEACH IS LEFT TO WINTER DAY TRIPPERS,
WALKING OFF THEIR CHRISTMAS HIPS,
THEN STOPPING OFF FOR FISH AND CHIPS.

THE LIGHT WAS LOVELY.

THE TIDE WAS AROUND HALF WAY IN/ OUT, WITH A TEMPERATURE OF AROUND FOUR DEGREES AND A VERY FRESH BREEZE.

RIVERSIDE.

I STOOD AND WATCHED THE WAVES ROLL INTO THE RIVER MOUTH  FOR A GOOD WHILE.

A SMALL STONE LOOKING LIKE THE GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PAST.

THE SUN COME BURSTING OUT, LIGHTING UP THE LAND IN COMPLETE CONTRAST TO THE SKY.
THE CRAB POT IN THE PHOTOGRAPH HAS NOW BEEN TAKEN UP ONTO THE NORTH GARE PIER, IN THE HOPE IT WILL BE COLLECTED.

THE DRIFTWOOD LOOKED STUNNING IN THE WINTER SUNLIGHT.

SOUTH SIDE OF NORTH GARE.

BACK TO THE BAY.
