SEATON SANDS, 26 MAY 2108.

It was Beach Buoy's second visit of the day.
He had two dogs for company tonight.
It was 7-43 pm.
The wind was from the North and just fresh enough to mess up your hair, at Beach Buoy's age he was glad still to have some, hair that is, not wind.
There was a cluster of razor shells, Beach Buoy hoped the finds would group together too.
He was drawn to a patch of Sea coal, it measured about the same are of half a Tennis Court.
He scraped the surface with his foot and aptly it was around a foot deep.
Down at the water's edge there were 2 people with 3 dogs.
About 20 minutes into the walk two hoods went up; it was getting chilly as the wind became stronger.
A broken plastic cup evaded beach clean capture by doing summersaults and disappearing towards the Dunes.

They turned at The Gare and headed back.
There was a River type feature in the sand due to the shaping work off the  Sea and Wind.
A lone Seagull flew down the feature close to the "River" like a  plane trying to avoid detection.
The lighter patch of Sand in the picture, to the right was blowing toward them like a Ghostly Phantom.

The night had lovely colours.
The dark piece centre of photograph is a Shipwreck
It shows now and again.
Beach Buoy reported it a while back and it was recorded as a "New" wreck.

There isn't a great deal left of the wreck.
Note the bright copper rivets.

Beach Buoy and the Dogs headed back and photographed their recent finds.

It was just after 7 am
Beach Buoy had been up since 4am; He was Dogless.
The Dog wouldn't rise for the Morning's walk.
A Fisherman hit the Beach just before Beach Buoy.
Beach Buoy followed the fisherman's footsteps that had penetrated the rain marked sand.

The fisherman set up on the Water's edge as Beach Buoy  searched the Strand line. An Old Man..errr hang on a bit!...  A man of around Beach Buoy's age  came into view walking parallel to the strand line suddenly took a sharp right to the Dunes. It was as if he had remembered that's where the keys were left.
There was a Pale light hanging over the Bay......
The Sun was trying to break through and when it did there was sudden warmth.
He carried on to the North Gare.
He had the sound of Seagulls to his left and the rested Skylark to the right.
It reminded him of the early Beatle  albums where you put the speaker balance all to one side and you would got a lone vocal  and a Bass Guitar or perhaps Harmony together with some drums?
When he arrived at The Gare, about a Dozen Sand Martins put on  an aerial display.

A typical Balloon find; entangled in Sea weed.

TRAWL

BEACH BUOY HAS BEEN A LITTLE SOLIDER  THIS WEEK BRAVELY BATTLING MAN FLU ;-)
HE WAS UP AT FOUR THIS MORNING AND WOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE BEACH AGES AGO ( NOW 6-08AM)
BUT THE DOG IS FLAT OUT IN BED.
SO HE HAD TIME AND REASON  TO TRAWL THROUGH SOME OLD BLOG POSTS.
HE CAME ACROSS THE ABOVE FROM 23 MAY 2010...
HIS FIRST BEACH CLEAN.
AND THEN HE FOCUSED ON HIS POOR LONG GONE MATE
BONNIE.

SHIP WRECK BONNIE.

HAVING A REST IN THE DUNES BONNIE.

ON THE WAY HOME IN THE BACK OF THE CAR BONNIE.

AS SHE GOT OLDER SHE ENJOYED THE RESTS MORE AND MORE.

SHE WAS A PLACID LOVING DOG..

BEACH BONNIE.

BEACH BUOY NOW OFF TO TRY AND MAKE GETTING READY FOR BEACH NOISES TO SEE IF DOG WILL ROUSE.

WHAT DO YOU DO WITH YOUR FINDS?

People often ask what I do with the things I find.
Usually the answer is not a lot.
I have dabbled with bits now and again over the years and have had a look through some of my blog posts of the past to dig some up.
Last year I gave around 18 bags of Sea glass to the National Glass Centre in Sunderland for some courses they run.
Also some to a local artist for a Sea glass sculpture at Seaton Carew; now finished but waiting to be unveiled.
Much of the finds are bagged in shed and classed as "Stock."
I have messed on with driftwood and Sea glass combinations....

I have messed about drilling glass for keyrindgs and the like.

Drilled Pottery too.

The brass G was found at Seaham.
The natural hole in the wood made it an ideal desk top pen holder.

Last year i made a sea glass Balloon to highlight the dangers of Balloon releases.

And.. sometimes I sketch some of the Sea Pottery.

It had been raining.
The rain had stopped.
Beach Buoy and two dogs arrived in the Car Park around 6-30pm.

There was a childish "man" racing around the Car Park, driving through the large puddles in the uneven surface.
Nearby a lady with a Large Dog picked up various items of litter from the South End of the Car Park.

She placed them into a nearby bin then slipped away looking (For no Reason.) a little embarrassed.
The tide was well out and there was a wind from the North.
Out in the Bay the mist partially hid the usually prominent Wind Turbines.
There were only around  six visible and they looked like dying, branchless  tree trunks in a Forest from a scary children's story; no spinning blades could be seen.

Beach Buoy had always thought that they should paint them to look like Giant Sunflowers.
There were a few patches of shingle, but alas not many finds. Much of the Beach seemed to covered in items too small to be shingle , but too large to be sand; Beach Buoy made up a name for it; SHANGLE!
The three went as far as North Gare.
The weather had been poor now for three days, but today at least the Skylark was up in the damp grey air, trying to put on a show after two cancelled performances.
Beach Buoy pictured  a Gene Kelly type skylark doing a version of Gotta Sing, Gotta Dance, not wishing to let down the Beach audience.

Beach Buoy did a Beach Clean as he plodded along.
Plastic,

Rope, Balloon Pieces and Disposable Lighters.
They always seemed to still have lots of fluid in them.
Beach Buoy wondered how much Liquid Butane was floating around inside of them, at Sea on the Ocean Waves?

They made their way back on a bit a of Dismal Evening Weatherise.
The View was a few different shades of grey, but well short of enough for an Erotic Novel.
The Sea had shaped and sculptured the Beach into dips and slopes.
With an odd large Rock thrown in to the mix, here and there it looked a little like a Lunar Landscape.
Beach Buoy and his crew took ''One small step." after another and eventually reached the  Capsule... sorry! Car.

SEATON SANDS 24 05 18.

Beach Buoy and two Dogs arrived around 6-30pm.
There were around 15 cars in the Car Park and 2 HGV Wagons.
The tide was well out.
The fresh wind was off the Sea.
There was a scattering of Sea Coal on the Beach, it used to a lot more prevalent in days gone by.

On the distant water's edge a figure with two large Dogs ignored the Seasonal Dog Ban and continued their walk North.
Maybe they thought the tide was so far out that they were in "International Waters."

Over to the South, Large Seagulls sat silently like Elder Statesmen , nearby the Terns were a different kettle of fish..... if you know what I mean?

They were very noisy, fighting and screeching; it almost looked they were taking turns :-)

Beach buoy clambered over the Rock face.
There were three lines of Shingly type zones.
Beach Buoy alternated between the zones.

Whenever he found a fragment of pottery, he did that Time Team "Thing." where they would visualise the complete item; a bowl ?, a cup ? or a saucer?

BEACH BUOY

SEATON SANDS, SEATON CAREW, HARTLEPOOL. 23 05 18.

Beach Buoy and Two Dogs parked up by the Promenade Ramp near to the Car Park.
It was around 6-22 pm.
As he was gathering his thoughts after turning off  the car initiation,  a lady gradually appeared from the bottom of the ramp. The ramp was hidden by the promenade wall.
She had her hair in a bun, in fact the bun came first.
Her hair wasn't actually in a bun!
It's just s style.
The Sea was Sea Grey and the Sky was Sky Grey.

A family of three had some of  those extra strong Supermarket shopping bags and were gathering stones, maybe for a garden project?
Down to the North a football game was taking place , it looked like about  17 a side match; possibly ten-half time twenty the winner?
Beach Buoy started his Beachclean with a tatter of a balloon and it's ribbon.

They also came across
a
Plastictoyrus.
It was bit of a surprise as they are not native to the area; usually found more to the South.

A lone seagull flew in a North Westerly direction.
It gave out a sound as it slowly flew reminiscent of an elderly gardener pushing an even more elderly wheelbarrow,

Beach Buoy ambled back, he washed  and photographed the finds.

He did his blog.

SEATON SANDS, SEATON CAREW, HARTLEPOOL 22 MAY 2018.

Beach Buoy and one Dog arrived in a relatively empty Car Park; about half a dozen cars and One HGV.
The Car Park wasn't good enough for the occupants of a 4x4 type vehicle, they had drove onto the grass near the Dunes; because they were very very Special.
Beach Buoy and his Pal started to walk from their Car the Beach, they passed the parking meter.
In digital numbers it displayed..
1856.
It made Beach Buoy smile, there were no Cars in 1856, the first would be another 30 years away ... and another 31 to the first Car Park?

The wind was biting and from the North.
It was a two hoodie night, a snood and a Dut; a Hartlepool United Dut at that.
About ten minutes into the walk the hoods went up, as the outer hoodie was zipped up;  Beach Buoy realised how much it sounded like when you zip up a tent; cocooning the occupant snugly inside.
A Flock of Seagulls stood at the water's edge, facing the strong cold wind.
It was a actual Flock of Seagulls...
Not the group from Liverpool, Popular in the 1980's
FLOCK OF SEAGULLS
Beach Buoy gave them a wide berth; just as he did back in the 80's, but they still took flight and disappeared.
Beach Buoy did a Beach clean and collected the pram / pushchair tyre shown above. It could so easily end up around a Seal's neck.
The two turned back at North Gare, the Sand Martins were noticeable by their absence, they would be cosy deep in their Sand  hideouts.
THE RSPB- SAND MARTIN LIFE CYCLE.

As they walked back, four Ducks flew overhead. It was an ungainly flight by them all, almost as if they were all fighting or simply falling out of the Sky. One was much more vociferous than the others, maybe shouting out instructions on a flying lesson?
They all survived a crash landing just offshore.

As Beach Buoy and the Dog drove the short distance to base camp, they passed what Beach Buoy presumed was the driver of the HGV that was parked nearby.
He was hurriedly eating fish and chips and possibly a couple of fingers at the rate he was going!
Beach Buoy wondered which Sea Front Fish and Chip Shop  he had returned from?
Was it the same one that he had stopped using?
It went like this.....
Visit A...   "Fish and Chips please"
"Just waiting for Fish" came the reply.
Chip shop owner goes on boat buying website, buys boat, boat gets delivered, goes fishing out at Sea, returns with Fish and fries it. (Well... that's what it felt like.)
Visit B... see Visit A above.

Visit C... "Do you have Fish ready?"
"Yes Pet."
"Fish and Chips please."
"Just waiting for chips."
Chip shop Owner goes on Tractor buying website.....

SEATON SANDS 21 MAY 2018.

Beach Boy and one Dog arrived around 7-06pm
It was Sunny with a fresh breeze off the Sea.
A group of three stood in the shape of  triangle throwing a plastic ring to one another. Somebody joined in;
 the triangle became a square.

Beach Buoy headed towards the Sea.
A man came from the water's edge with two Greyhounds, one was White, one was light Brown; only the man was Grey.

The tide was coming in; slowly but surely.
There was two ladies in the distance with their Dogs.
One of them had a Traffic Light Green coat the other wore Traffic Light Red. Beach Buoy wondered if one of them was called Amber?

Tracks from the Beach Clean Tractor?

Beach Buoy headed back.
A man appeared from the Dunes, as if from nowhere.
The man wore a Royal Blue coat and what Beach Buoy would call "A Russian Hat."
It was odd, the man looked out of place.
Beach Buoy wondered if they had opened a branch of that Shop that Mr Benn went to in search of adventures.
MR. BENN

Beach Buoy did a Beach clean.

He washed and photographed the finds.

SEATON SANDS 20 MAY 2018.

Beach Buoy and the Dog set foot (Feet.)  on the Beach at    6-15am
A man was in the Car Park practising riding a Motor Cycle.
There was a slight  fresh breeze from the West
Beach Buoy noticed One Man and his Dog were on the Beach.
No, not the sheepdog show of yesteryear it was really just One Man..... and his Dog.
Beach Buoy and his buddy headed to the water's edge then headed towards the South.
After a while a man of about Beach Buoy's age over took them; striding it out in shorts that were a little too short to be honest.
Beach Buoy look back to the North as a man and a Collie Dog disappeared into the Dunes.

The two Beach buddies continued their walk and came across this driftwood, Beach Buoy thought it looked like a sunbather catching some early morning Sun.

They found a "Comfy" rock for a sit and a think.

They had their " Think." and thought the rock wasn't very Comfy at all and found a more comfy spot .

The Dog perked up when he noticed the  "7 o'clock club." dog walkers in the distance.

They headed back towards the North.
The large poodle from the "7 o'clock club."came for its neck rub.

A well worn Balloon lays partially buried in the Beach Sand; It was beach cleaned.

Someone had placed a tree into the Dune sand.

Beach Buoy's #2minutebeachclean

The two returned to the Beach at around 7-40 p m
A lady in a wheelchair saw her children safely down the ramp that lead to the Beach and returned to the Promenade to watch them from over the wall.
Beach Buoy thought how come the council don't provide a decked platform at the bottom of the ramp for wheelchair users to be on a level with who ever they come to the Beach with?

The Sea was coming in and washing away the traces of the day's visitors.

They headed back towards a Lemon Sun.

Beach Buoy's second but smaller Beach clean of the day.

Later that night, the pair did  their Blog..
