SEATON SANDS, HARTLEPOOL. 09, APRIL, 2023.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog walked down the beach access ramp at 6-30 a.m.
Beach Buoy had faffed a good ten minutes before leaving the van.
A couple headed down the beach access t just before them.

Two hoods went up.
The weather didn't really warrant it.
It just felt more comfortable that way.
The couple headed for the water's edge before heading north.

A man with a dog and a stick weren't too far behind.

The tide was high.

They headed South.
There was chill in the still air.

The sea was calm.
Beach Buoy was too.
He paused to look at the sea.
A three strong 7 a.m. club were to the south.

In time the 7 a.m. club approached.
They chatted a while.
They warned Beach Buoy about a prat down near the Grey Rocks.
He had two German Shepherds off their leads.
They had gone for Mari the big friendly Poodle and the Polar Bear-like white Retriever.
Both were o.k.
"Some people."
They said their goodbyes before heading off.

The Beachcombing Border Collie Couple came and went.
Beach Buoy and Another Dog headed to Stubborn Dog Stack.

"Morning Mate."
Beach Buoy added some stones.
He patted
THE
stone.
It was then that Beach Buoy recalled a recent dream.
In it he had seen a Humpbacked Whale.
He looked out to sea, just incase.
Nope.

There was a camera-shy Seal and The Sea Serpent of course.

"See you mate."
They returned to the beach.

They began a slow walk back.

Once again the Very very wet Retriever appeared from the south.
They said hello.
They said goodbye.
Beach Buoy watched them head North at a quicker pace.
The Dog was going way out into the sea to fetch the thrown ball.
Even the seal wasn't out that far!
Beach Buoy smiled as the big dog was pushed back to land by the waves.
The Sun tried to shine.
It was a little like one of those early energy-saving light bulbs.
Light in a couple of hours.

Someone pointed out to Beach Buoy that in the photograph, there seemed to be a hand offering the Sun to the day.
Can you see it?

Team Muzzled Dog went by, heading south.
"Morning."
"Morning."

An Oldman with a base ball cap and a Yorkshire Terrier were next to travel the beach.
"Morning."
Silence.

As they approached the access ramp, Dottie Dog and her mam were just heading into the beach.
They had a grand chat.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog went to the van.
He could see the lady who walks a route so she can check the parking meters for returned coins.
She was walking alone.
Her long-time companion, a Border Collie had gone.
She stuck to her regular route.
No change there then.

Beach Buoy  had his buried in his beach book and phone
He looked up to see Dottie Dog heading home.

MIDDLETON BY BIKE.08, APRIL, 2023.

It was a lovely morning.

Beach Buoy headed for Middleton on his push bike.

Seaton Carew beach looked grand from the promenade.

He cycled through the marina.
He dismounted for the lock gates.

He rested his bike against the wall, near to the beach access straps.
He rested against the wall.

He watched as a man collected seacoal.
Much of the beach looked to be black thanks to it's presence.
Beach Buoy headed down the beach stairs.
Half carrying, half bouncing his bike downwards.
"Morning." said Beach Buoy as he passed the mansy pick up truck
"Morning."

Beach Buoy pushed his bike alongside as he walked a beach that looked to be 90% covered in seacoal.
The tide was well out, but memories came flooding back.

When he was a kid,
this beach
was
THE
beach.

Blocks of marina flats had replaced fisherman's cabins.
The wall in the background is where a young Beach Buoy would play football alone.
Alone except for a chalk-drawn goalkeeper in a chalk-drawn goal.

Dad would be in the cabin above, looking out to sea.

He headed towards the Pier and "That." bridge.

A green line showed the  height of the sea at times.

The factory of Beach Buoy's apprenticeship stood behind cabins that had been moved twice now.

The Jetty.
Not what it used to be.

Lots and lots of old bricks lay alongside the Jetty.
Remnants of old sea defences.

Beach Buoy passed the cabins as he headed back.

He cycled south, along the Promenade.

Seaton Carew beach still looked vast, but the tide had turned.

BEACH BUOY.

SATURDAY. 08, APRIL,2023, SEATON SANDS HARTLEPOOL.

Beach Buoy, Borrowed Dog and Another Dog arrived in the beach car park at 6-43 a.m.
Beach Buoy was more than a little surprised to see that the large car park was empty.
The 7 a.m. club were already heading back to the North.

Beach Buoy and the dogs headed for the sea.
By the time they had reached the water's edge, Mr. Gunn / Nunn and Alfie coming down the beach access ramp.

The tide was well in.
The air was still with a hint of chill.
The sun was already up, angled beams of light shone down.
Clouds act as photographic filters.

The Wind Turbines turned slowly.

Beach Buoy and the Dogs walked the water's edge in the glorious light.
The sea to their left.
Singing Skylarks to the right.
Mr.Gunn/Nunn stopped for a chat.
They talked about steam off the sea, the light and how lucky they were to live near to the sea.
Beach Buoy told the take that he would live in a shack by the sea rather than a mansion in the countryside.
Mr.Gunn/Nunn agreed.
"Enjoy your  walk."
"You too."

Mr. Gunn/Nunn and Alfie headed off on their circular walk.
In next to no time they were through the gap between the grey rocks and the dunes.
Gone.
Out of sight but not out of mind.
A man appeared ahead with three large dogs, all off the lead.
He threw a ball in Beach Buoy's direction.
Thankfully his dogs had more sense than he did.
They caused no trouble.
They headed back into the dunes.

7-28 a.m.
"Morning Mate."
Beach Buoy added some stones.
He patted
THE
stone.
Moments later the Sun broke free of the low-lying clouds.
As it did so, the Skylarks song became more intense and more melodic.

The narrow beach was becoming busier.

"See you mate."
They returned to the sands.
They began a slow walk back at the water's edge.
They had their sunshine shadows for company.

A wet dog came around from behind them.
It dropped its ball at Beach Buoy's feet.
It was the very very wet Retriever.
Beach Buoy turned.
He gently kicked the ball towards the friendly dog's owner.
"Morning Paul."
"Morning."
Beach Buoy introduced Borrowed Dog.

The owner headed off North, throwing the ball into the sea for his dog as he  progressed.
He wore a bright yellow hat.

"Excellent work." Beach Buoy said to himself.

Beach Buoy and the dogs followed behind at a slower pace.
The very very wet Retriever loves the sea.
It was farther out than some deals that Beach Buoy had seen.

In time, Team Muzzled Dog appeared.
"Morning." said Beach Buoy as he raised an arm.
"Morning."
"Hiya."

Beach Buoy and the dogs returned to the van.
Beach Buoy drank coffee as he watched people walk the beach and Promenade.

He nodded off.

The Sun shone.
The sea sparkled.

EVENING VISIT. SEATON SANDS HARTLEPOOL, 7, APRIL, 2023.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog arrived in the beach car park at 6-51 p.m.

The tall elderly gentleman with a tall elderly greyhound was coming up the access ramp.
"It's freezing tonight!
I'm off home to have my tea."
"Yes it's chilly, see you later.
Beach Buoy and Another Dog headed down the ramp.

A cold wind blew off the sea.
The filling in a grey sea / sky sandwich.

They headed south.
The tide was well in, but going out.
Sea foam ghosts shivered and trembled at the water's edge.

7-09 p.m.
"Evening Mate."
Beach Buoy added some stones.
He patted
THE
stone.

Someone has left painted stones up at the stack.
They were left for others.

"See you mate."
No coffee this evening.
They returned to the beach.

The late Sun gave off a strange but glorious light.

Back in the car park, the Sun had traded places with this morning's Moon.

SEATON SNOOKS TEA ROOM OUT AND ABOUT CARD.

The initial conversation.

BEACH BUOY.

GOOD FRIDAY, 07, APRIL,2023. SEATON SANDS, HARTLEPOOL.

Beach Buoy had been awake an age.
He finally gave in, heading downstairs
at 4-38 a.m.
By 5-20 a.m. he was having a coffee in the van in the beach car park.

An LED-type circular Moon reflected the light from the approaching Sun.
He sat drinking the coffee as he watched the light increase out on the horizon.
He was hoping Good Friday would indeed be good.

Loud music drove into the car park.
Beach Buoy glanced at the time.
5-37 a.m.
The cars parked nearby.
It was Team Distant Wave,
they headed off for the tranquility of the beach.
Beach Buoy decided to wait a while.
It was still dark enough to see the marker lights flash in the bay.
Beach Buoy checked their "Apple and." timings were accurate.
They were.

Boots and paws touched sand at
5-55.
The tide was well in.
There was a slight breeze from the north.
Team Distant Wave were well ahead along the beach to the South
Beach Buoy paused at the water's edge for a good while.

Another Dog's attention was drawn to some strangers up near the dune edge.
They looked like sunrise seekers?
A Large Moon looked down from above the dunes.
Snubbed once again.
Not a good feeling.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog turned to head south.
The breeze was on their backs.
Two hoods were up.
Around a dozen Pebbles with Legs skimmed across the water like slate-like stones.
Crows stood up ahead.
Beach Buoy had always thought them to be a little too pushy.
It all made sense recently when one of the
7 a.m. club informed Beach Buoy that they bring cat treats to feed the crows.

A Pale and Sad Moon slipped down behind the dunes.
It didn't stay long enough to see tha the supposed sunrise seekers were in fact dune dippers.
The three headed for the sea in swimming costumes.

The sun came to seek them.

The 7 a.m club passed by.
They chatted a while.
They said their goodbyes.
In next to no time at all they were dots in the distance.

6-39 a.m.
"Morning Mate."
Beach Buoy added some stones.
He patted
THE
stone.
He sat and drank coffee.

Team Distant Wave and the 7 a.m.
Club headed back north on the beach below.
Beach Buoy watched a Skylark rise and fall without it bursting into song.

"See you mate."
Beach Buoy and Another Dog returned to the North.

He paused to look back at the stack.
The light was gorgeous.

They headed towards the van.
A man with a Captain Scarlet hat and a Mari-the-friendly-poodle-lookalike dog headed South.

Once in the van, Beach Buoy put on a pan of milk.
He made coffee.
He watched the People watched.
Mr Gunn/Nunn arrived.
He waved to Beach Buoy as he and little Alfie, headed along the Promenade, to the access ramp.
A dog in a Mick Aston jumper headed the other way.
