DAD'S BOAT

MY DAD DESIGNED A 38 FOOT MOTOR CRUISER IN 1972 AND BUILT IT IN 2 LOCATIONS IN HARTLEPOOL WITH TWO FRIENDS.

HE MADE IT 38 FOOT BECAUSE BOATS OVER 40 FOOT HAD TO PAY MUCH MORE HARBOUR FEES.

THE BUILD STARTED ON BRENDA ROAD IN HARTLEPOOL.

THE HULL TAKES SHAPE.

IT THEN MOVED TO HERRINGS SCRAP YARD ALSO IN HARTLEPOOL
I WOULD SIT WITH AN AIR RIFLE TO SHOOT AT RATS, IF ANYONE WAS WORKING UNDERNEATH.

ERRRR DAD ! HEALTH AND SAFETY!

AGAIN ... HEALTH AND SAFETY ... TWO OIL DRUMS, WE WOULD PUT TWO PLANKS ON HERE FOR STAGING... I SPENT A LOT OF TIME PAINTING HER.

FINALLY IT WAS OFF THROUGH THE TOWN TO THE DOCKS, AROUND 8  YEARS OF WEEKENDS SINCE STARTING.

HE WAS HAPPY AS LARRY.
THE INSIDE WAS TO FIT OUT; HE WAS GOOD AT WOODWORK TOO.

A ROUGH SKETCH HE MADE FOR A SPEEDBOAT.
I REMEMBER HIM SAYING HE ALSO  WANTED TO BUILD A STEEL COBLE!

BEACH BUOY.
