WORK, POOLS AND SEATON CAREW 18-03-17.

It had been a long day with an earlier than usual start at work meaning the alarm was set for 4-40 am.
After work it was straight to watch Pools aka Hartlepool United.
We lost 0-2 today, which always gets me down.
After the match I grabbed the dog and hit the Beach.
It had rained earlier in the Day , but at the time of the Beach visit it was a mild wind taking centre stage.

It seems as though I have been turning up at the Beach at high tide a lot lately.

As usual I headed South first.

I was pleased to see that the Sea had left some shingle banks to explore.

The clouds gathered and the rain came later.

A nice pottery piece with a Bridge?

And this his him in his *Oh No Not Another Photo Stop.*
position.

A few nice finds
Fossil
Glass
Pot... one with hole
And a strange small ball
it is not very heavy but feels a little like a house brick to touch.

NEWBURN BRIDGE, SEATON CAREW. 17 03 17

Scene at Newburn Bridge, Seaton Carew back in Nov. 1901when my Great Grandfather tied a rope around his waist and went into the water to help save the Crew of the Trio.

Poor photograph of brilliant Sea Gallantry Medal that William was given.

SEATON CAREW 16-03-17.

It was 6pm again when we hit the Beach.
It was Chilly, my mate had his coat on.

Lots of shingle and waves trying to catch you out, shame the light was fading.

The pieces I kept tonight.

SEATON SANDS , SEATON CAREW, HARTLEPOOL 15 MARCH 2017

The Seaton Carew Clock Tower shows that it was 6pm.
The distant village Church Bells rang six times as I set off on a Beach walk.

This chap was on the strand line.
It was upside down and looked dead, but I was drawn to it.
One touch and it sparked into self defence mode.
I carried to where I judged it would be safe and settled him into a home to wait safely for the tide to come back and re claim him and hopefully set him off on a long adventure.

The way back in the fading light was spoilt by a drifting black cloud of smoke coming across the Dunes from a fire to the East.

There were loads of shingle clusters to search but the light had almost gone!

I left quite a bit again but did pick up these.
Not sure what the white object is?
I have found one similar a while back but it had glass or a lens in the circular opening.

SEATON SANDS. 14 - 03 - 17.

Got to the Beach just before 6pm.
Lots of dramatic clouds and it would be dark within an hour or so.
The tide had gone out a little but was still too high for lots of finds.

The sky towards the North was more threatening.
The rain never came tonight.

A few finds tonight.
As I have said before I am trying to cut down on what I collect and bring back.
Thank you for taking the time to read this blog...
I should write more and maybe not so many photographs?
Have a brilliant tomorrow and good today.

13 MARCH 2017. SEATON SANDS, SEATON CAREW, HARTLEPOOL.

It was around 5-15pm by the time we hit the Beach, the light and the tide were going. People and Dogs itching for the lighter nights were scratching along the Beach, looking for relief . Just a couple of weeks and the clocks go forward.

By the time I had reached the rocks, near to North Gare I noticed the Sky behind the Dunes had turned a Golden Yellow. I clambered part way up the rocks to try and catch the Sun in the photograph......
Then out of the Dunes came two riders and horses, silhouetted  against the Glorious Sky.

As we headed back the dusk changed the palette with hints of pink and orange, before finally closing it's lid.

SEATON CAREW 12 03 2017

Once again an after work walk... The tide was high but heading out. Rain threatened and eventually came down once the walk was over.

Towards Hartlepool's Headland across Hartlepool Bay.
Love where you live.
A young lad was stood nearby with a microphone on a tripod
recording the sounds of the Beach.

I left these behind at North Gare as is the norm now.

We headed back.

The finds that I decided to keep.

SEATON CAREW 10 03 17

It was around 4-30pm.
Before I set off from the house, I had noticed a Coastguard Helicopter travelling the length of the Beach.
By the time I arrived at the Beach,it was over the River Tees.
My phone camera unable to catch a clear shot of it.
The Day was a pale colour day ,the tide was well out and heading out more.
I chose to walk about mid-distance between the strand line and the receding North Sea, as I headed South to the North Gare Pier which sits and stretches at the mouth of the Tees.
Before too long it became apparent that the Sea had left a lot of shingle patches on it's last high tide visit.
Shingle usually means finds, and it wasn't any different today thank goodness.

This Blue and White Sea Alley was the find of the day; nestled amongst shingle of roughly the same size. You would rarely find one just laying randomly on the sand.
I often think, whilst searching for Sea Alleys and the like, that it must be a million to one chance to find one, but then convince myself that there must be a million pieces of shingle... so you never know.

Another glistening Sea Alley jumped out from dull, but multi-coloured shingle. Once again see that it is with shingle of a similar size. So make that two million pieces of shingle!

The Dog seemed to mirror my smug face in finding two Sea Alleys.

As my shed is bursting to the seams with sea glass and sea pottery, I am being more picky about what I keep now. The pieces above are those that I left behind at North Gare for others.... I cannot not pick them up, so I bag them and filter the  keepers and leavers  as I go. It is hard leaving finds behind but I need to cut down and you never know I may make someone's day now and again when they come across the leavers.

I found this broken glass stopper on the way back, it must have been a larger than the usual as it was sturdy.

Here are the Keepers.
Some nice pieces.
I think the S is off
SHANKS
VITREOUS CHINA
possibly off an bathroom sink
or
Toilet.

I am so Lucky to live 5 minutes form a Beach that gives up so many worthless but at the same time priceless intriguing  finds.

SEATON CAREW 08-03-17.

After work walk once again.
Lovely Blue Sky today.

A few tyres have appeared on the Beach lately.

Odd layered possibly melted glass.
A bonnie colour.

Another tyre, it's rubbish but I do like the reflection.

Stride.

Steps.

He saw another Dog in the distance.

Found this near North Gare... It is off a vintage car or Sentinel Steam Lorry. It is a seating washer for the old fashioned Headlamp. The other side is flat and this is the side that would bolt to the car. The now squashed domed top would seat and support the lamp.

I left these at North Gare.

Twenty.

As usual he wanted to stay... see the draglines?
He looks deep into my eyes as if saying "Really? Going already?"

The keepers for today.
