SEATON CAREW & BLUE LAGOON 16 JAN 2011

ARRIVED AROUND 7 AM

IT WAS STILL DARK AND VERY WINDY.

I DECIDED TO TAKE MY SMALL POCKET CAMERA AS

I THOUGHT THE WIND BLOWN SAND MAY HAVE DAMAGED MY LARGER CAMERA?

BY THE TIME I REACHED THE BLUE LAGOON THE LIGHT WAS GOOD ENOUGH TO START TAKING PICTURES.

THEY WERE LOTS OF CLOUDS,

COLOURED BY A BLUSH OF PINK.

ON THE WAY BACK ALONG SEATON CAREW BEACH

A GLANCE OVER YOUR SHOULDER

SHOWED JUST HOW MUCH THE SKY HAD CHANGED

Near and far away.

Apologies to those who don't know the Father Ted TV show and the
near and far away scene.
The seaglass wood thing, is small but the boat is far away.
My father would carve cobles from solid wood, the one in the photograph is the one he kindly made for me.
He had a cabin at Middleton with a view of the sea, where he would do some of the work.
Sometimes people would pass and ask to pay for one to be made.
He wouldn't sell them.
But if someone came by and seemed to appreciate the craftsmanship,I have known him to say "I'll make you one."
In comparison my feeble attempt at a sea glass thingy was made today. The sea glass colour isn't showing up very well in the photograph.
At least I got to put a photograph of one of Dad's boats on the Blog.

SEATON CAREW & BLUE LAGOON .8 JAN 2011

ARRIVED A LITTLE LATER THAN USUAL FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR.
AROUND 7-30A.M.
IT WAS DARK & RAINING
AS BONNIE AND WALKED ALONG SEATON BEACH THE RAIN STOPPED,BUT DAYLIGHT STRUGGLED TO RAISE IT'S LAZY HEAD.
THE PHOTOGRAPH BELOW IS OF THE BLUE LAGOON.
BELOW...THE MOUTH OF THE RIVER TEES.
THE LAGOON PART OF THE BEACH CAN SOMETIMES GET
SOME LARGE DRIFTWOOD.

I WONDER IF DOROTHY LEFT THIS BEHIND?

AS WELL AS LARGE DRIFTWOOD,THE LAGOON CAN SOMETIMES TRAP
SMALL PIECES OF DRIFTWOOD,I GATHERED SOME FOR MY SEA GLASS
THINGYS,HERE THEY ARE PUT OUT TO DRY IN THE GREENHOUSE.
ONCE THEY HAVE PART DRIED SOME WILL BE SMUGGLED INTO THE HOUSE
AND DRIED ON THE BACK OF THE STUDY RADIATOR

THE BEST BIT OF THE DAY.

SEAHAM 02 01 2011

When i arrived the tide was too high
to have a glass hunt,so i took some photographs around
Seaham.

The house on the clifftop has a stunning view, wonder
how much the house insurance is?

The sea at Seaham always seems relentless
The sea glass takes a constant pounding
no wonder it is so very beautiful.

This
beauty
was just
laid on
the
surface.

Another beauty
just laid
waiting to
be picked
up.

Finds from
the first
part of the
hunt. As i
returned to
the car for
a strong cup of tea.

UNTIL THEN SANTA GOT ME THESE...THE NEW YEAR BROUGHT HEAVY RAIN AND A BITING WIND FROM THE NORTH
I LEFT ME CAMERA IN THE RELATIVELY WARM CAR.
THE PHOTOGRAPHS BELOW WERE TAKEN ON MY RETURN TO THE CAR.

A DRIFTWOOD/SEA GLASS THINGY HANGS IN MY CAR,
MY ELDEST DAUGHTER WAS SAT IN THE REAR OF THE CAR ON HER CHRISTMAS VISIT
FROM ITALY...
SHE ASKED "WHY HAVE YOU GOT DRY POO HANGING IN YOUR CAR?" HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL READERS.
