SKODA & ..... SEAHAM

BACK IN 1973 WHEN SKODAS WERE SKODAS

AND VW WAS VW, MY FATHER BOUGHT HIS ONE AND ONLY EVER NEW CAR.

A SKODA 100MB...I THINK THE PRICE WAS £825.

THE COLOUR WAS HARVEST GOLD (ORANGE).

WE WENT OUT ONE SUMMER'S NIGHT FOR A DRIVE AND ENDED UP AT SEAHAM.

THIS WAS MY FIRST VISIT TO SEAHAM.

WE HAD A LOOK AROUND THE DOCK AREA AND FOUND THE PAPERS BELOW

ON THE FLOOR NEXT TO THE SITE OF AN EARLIER BONFIRE.

"KEEP THEM, THEY'RE OLD" DAD SAID.

I DID AND HAVE.

NOSE'S POINT AND SEAHAM HALL BEACH

I WAS GIVEN THE CHANCE TO HEAD FOR SEAHAM

GONE.........................

I DECIDED TO HAVE A BETTER LOOK AT THE BEACH AT NOSE'S POINT, SEAHAM.

IT HAD BEEN RAINING ALL DAY LONG AT THE HOME PORT

AND IT WAS STILL RAINING WHEN I SET OFF FOR SEAHAM.

THE BEACH IS REALLY ODD .

A MIXTURE OF PAST DUMPING

BROWN SAND,GRAVEL PEBBLES AND ROCKS.

THE WAY THE DIFFERENT SIZE STONES ETC WERE SCATTERED

AROUND, LEAD ME TO BELIEVE THE ROUGH SEAS THAT CAN BE EXPERIENCED AT SEAHAM HAD A LOT TO DO WITH IT?

THERE ARE SOME NICE CLIFFS.

I WONDER HOW LONG THIS STACK WILL REMAIN STANDING AFTER A RECENT ROCKFALL?

BELOW SOME WW2 BEACH DEFENCES.

BELOW ...THE SCENE AT SEAHAM HALL BEACH.

THE TIDE WAS HIGH AND AS USUAL A T SEAHAM WAS TRYING TO CATCH YOU OUT TO GIVE YOU A GOOD SOAKING.

NOT LONG AFTER THIS PHOTOGRAPH WAS TAKEN

THE RAIN CAME... AND I WENT

NOT MUCH TO WRITE HOME ABOUT...THE FINDS

DRILLING

Someone was kind enough to bring me a piece of sea glass

into work.

I have made a keyring with it...see below. I will give them the keyring on Monday.

I have also been drilling some other sea glass.

BLAST BEACH ... Seaham

ON THE WAY HOME TO SUNNY SEATON...

JUST AS YOU LEAVE THE NORTH OF SEAHAM FRONT

YOU SHOULD SEE A SIGN FOR NOSE'S POINT

IT LEADS TO THE BLAST BEACH SHOWN BELOW.. I HAD NEVER BEEN DOWN TO THE BLAST BEACH

AND ON THIS OCCASION ONLY HAD 5 OR 10 MINS TO HAVE A LOOK.

I FOUND ABOUT 6 PIECES OF GLASS.

THE STEEP CLIMB BACK TO THE CAR PARK..
