Just a bike ride.

BEACH BUOY.

24, JUNE, 2024. SEATON SANDS, HARTLEPOOL

Beach Buoy and Another Dog reached the beach car park at 5-20 a.m.
Someone was having a ridiculously early unofficial learner driving lesson around the car park.

A Little Tern watcher had jumped over The Esplanade wall, to check on the chicks.
There was uproar in the sky above as the little birds made a big noise.

An early morning Metal Detectorist searched the dune edge for other people's misfortune.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog headed southwards.
The tide was out.
The Sun was out.
The sea was calm.
The sky was blue.
The temperature was ideal.

It was almost, the perfect morning.
Two figures appeared up ahead.

The two passed by.
Young lads.
It looked like they had been camping in the dunes ?

Beach Buoy and Another Dog continued south, as far as The Big Slope.
Up the slope, along the "easy" route.

Approaching Stubborn Dog Stack.

"Morning Mate."
Beach Buoy added some stones.
He patted
THE
stone.
It was 6-06 a.m.
He sat down on that driftwood wedge about a metre long.
Coffee.
Sit.
Think.
He watched as Little Terns dropped into the sea just a few metres offshore.
The birds would rise from the water, fish in beak.
Then back to the nest site.

He sat listening to the sea and the birdsong.
He savoured every second.
Perfect Sky.
Perfect Sea
Perfect Sun.
Perfect temperature.
The morning was almost perfect...

Alfie approached, followed by Mr Gunn/Lunn.
They were on their circular walk.
The tide has blocked their beach route.
They chatted.
Weather.
Gannets.
Dolphins, some had been spotted recently.
They went their separate ways.

Beach Buoy cupped his hands.
Facing the Sun, he washed his face in the morning's warmth.

"See you mate."

They set off, back along the "easy" route.
Another Dog led the way.
He passed a smouldering driftwood campfire.
They had left a mess too.
A large bottle was half full with water.
Beach Buoy poured the remaining water onto the driftwood.
It sizzled as it cooked.

They returned to the beach.
Beach Buoy was a little disappointed.

The 7 a.m. club had already been and gone.

The lady who walks the length of the beach passed by
Beach Buoy raised a hand.
"Morning."

Team Muzzled Dog passed.
"Morning."
"Morning."
"Hiya "

Team Mick Aston Jumper passed.
"Morning."
"Morning."
"Morning."
"Morning."

Beach Buoy headed up the ramp.
Beach clean in the bin.

Back in the van.
Team Mick Aston Jumper pretend to be the  little people that walk The Esplanade Wall.

A Little Tern.

23,JUNE,2024. SEATON SANDS, HARTLEPOOL.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog reached The Esplanade at 5-20.
The 4 x 4 Border Collie Couple headed north along the water's edge.
Beach Buoy hadn't seen him for a canny while.

Little Terns travelled from the nest site to the sea and back, each returning with the curve of a catch gripped tightly in their bills.

Beach Buoy looked north, beyond the nest site.
All was quiet, apart from the Terns themselves.

The tide has just turned from high.
Beach Buoy and Another Dog walked along the combined water's edge and strand-line.

A Metal Detectorist crossed from dune to the sea.
Beep.
Beep.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog began to head to, The Big Slope.

A man was walking northwards with two large dogs off their leads
The dogs fought with one another as they approached.
Beach Buoy scooped up Another Dog, until they passed. It did his back the world of good ...

"Morning Mate."
It was 6-17.
He added four stones.
He patted
THE
stone.
He sat on a driftwood wedge about a metre long.
The sun warmed his face.
The Skylarks and Sand Martins warmed his heart.
He drank water.
No coffee today.

A man and a Labrador walked the close water's edge.
Beach Buoy raised a hand of acknowledgement.
"Morning."
"Morning."
The man went as far south as the tide and grey rocks would allow.
They headed back northwards.
Now that an arm of recognition had been raised, future contacts will be classed as distant waves.

A Ship left the River Tees
It headed northwards, cutting between the Wind Turbines and The Sea Serpent Marker.

"See you mate "
They set off along the "easy" route.

Another Dog led the way.

Once on the beach below,  Beach Buoy chatted to Team One Black Ear.
They went their separate ways.

Team Muzzled Dog passed by
"Morning."
"Morning."
with not too distant waves thrown in for luck.

Beach Buoy returned to the van.
He sat watching the world go by.
Team Mick Aston Jumper came.
Team Mick Aston Jumper left.

22 JUNE 2024. SEATON SANDS HARTLEPOOL

Beach Buoy and Another Dog arrived

at 7-10 a.m.

As they headed for the access ramp, Team Muzzled Dog passed by.

"Morning."

"Morning."

"Hiya."

They led the way to the beach.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog followed at a slower pace.

Beach Buoy was struggling with leg and back pain.

He had wondered if he should come at all.

They went to the strand-line.

Beach Buoy thought about calling it a day there and then.

He turned to see that the two ladies with the German Shepherd that has gone for Another Dog previously, had joined the beach.

The dog was off the lead.

Great.

He let them head south.

Eventually he decided to continue the walk.

It was a struggle up the Big Slope.

Another Dog wasn't helping, being as she was in full Stubborn Dog mode.

The "easy" route.
Probably not the best place to be.
Grass Pollen was making Beach Buoy's hayfever a pain.

"Morning Mate."
It was 7-45.
Beach Buoy added three stones.
He patted
THE
stone.

He sat on the driftwood wedge about a metre long.

He sipped water.
No coffee this morning.

"See you mate "

They headed to the beach.

Very slow walk back.

Team Mick Aston Jumper walked the low dune edges.

FRI, 21, JUNE, 2024. SEATON SANDS, HARTLEPOOL.

Beach Buoy stepped onto The Esplanade to check the tide and to see if he could take a good photograph of three kayaks heading their way back to the car park.

He couldn't.

Another Dog wanted to know just what was going on.

He did manage to photograph a Photographer.

Little Terns chattered overhead.

Beach Buoy fetched Another Dog.
It was 6-25 a.m.
They headed down the access ramp as three kayaks and Scruffy the Whispy Dog came up.
Her owner was nowhere to be seen.

She was heading for The Esplanade and the sea front roads.
Beach Buoy guided the dog back to the beach.
She wouldn't come to him.
She ran northwards.

Beach Buoy looked south.
Way off in the distance he could see Scruffy's mam stood at the top of a dune, calling her.
The 7 a.m club were on the search too.

Beach Buoy shouted and shouted.
He waved his arms like an out of control Wind Turbine.
Eventually they realised and came rushing along to him.
He told the story and pointed.
They headed off in hot pursuit.

Beach Buoy shuffled southwards, his back was playing up again.

He stopped to chat to Team One Black Ear.

The tide was well out.
It was a little overcast but mild.

6-53 a.m.
"Morning Mate."
Beach Buoy added some stones.
He patted
THE
stone.

He sat on a driftwood wedge about a metre long.
Coffee.
Sneeze.
Sneeze.
Sniff.
Sniff.
Hayfever was back.

Beach Buoy watched the Sand Martins.

He sat, camera ready.
The Sand Martins seemed to very camera,-shy.

He managed to catch a photograph on a couple of occasions.

Of course, once the camera was put into a pocket, the birds flew round and round Beach Buoy's head as if he had been hit by a frying pan in a Tom and Jerry cartoon.

Down on the Beach below, a large man marched south at the water's edge.
A tiny dog trotted quickly behind him.

The lady who walks the full length of the beach, did so.

Mr Gunn/ Lunn.and his excellent dog, Alfie passed by on their circular walk.

Distant waves were shared.

Mr Gunn /Lunn and Alfie.

Beach Buoy  cleaned up six cans and a helium balloon.
Remnants from an end of exams Dune Party.

He and Another Dog returned to the beach.

Team Muzzled Dog passed.
Distant waves were shared.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog headed back.

A slow walk.
He stopped to chat to Team Mick Aston Jumper.

The big man with a tiny dog headed back northwards.

The photographer.

20 JUNE 2024... A MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE

Beach Buoy's fifth letter in a bottle.
Three were from Hartlepool, stuck in the Bay.
The other was from Shetland.
This one?

Here is one of those others...

BEACH BUOY.

SEATON SANDS, HARTLEPOOL. 20 JUNE 2024.

Beach Buoy had been awake since 1-50.

By 2-10 he had given up the ghost.

He unplugged his on-charge mobile phone.

98%

Beach Buoy wondered what percentage he was on ?

He went downstairs.

He made a coffee.

He sat.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog headed to the beach.

The Sun wasn't up yet.

They headed south.
The different coloured sand shows that the tide was on the way out.

Beach Buoy picked up a message in a bottle.

Driftwood with a message.

4-20 a.m.
"Morning Mate."
Beach Buoy added some stones
He patted
THE
stone.

4-27 a.m.
The earliest sunrise of the year.
It's a minute later tomorrow.

Beach Buoy savoured the moment.

The Sun cleared low cloud.

One man and a dog walked the beach below.

"See you mate."
They headed north.

Dune with a view.

Lots of rubbish in the dunes.

Beach Buoy cleared as much he could.
He filled his beach bag and a plastic carrier bag that has been left up in the dunes too.

.
They headed back along the beach.

Off to the village.

Beach mate.

The bagful of bottles and cans from the dunes
