SEATON SANDS HARTLEPOOL. 27, MAY, 2023.

Beach Buoy, Borrowed Dog and Another Dog headed down the beach access ramp
It was BOB O'CLOCK
8-08 p.m.
It may not look it by the carefully taken photographs, but it was a typical busy summer scene.
One has to be careful just where the camera is pointing when families, teenagers and children are relaxing in the warmth of the evening.

Beach Buoy and the dogs walked to the sea.
Beach Buoy looked out to where the sun had risen that morning.
This evening it was still there on show in the sky.
Beach Buoy estimated that it had done around  a 255 degree arc through the sky with a little more still to give.

Teenagers lined the dune edge.
A football thudded down below.
A couple stood at the sea hugging
A family had set up camp on softer sand.

Beach Buoy and the dogs headed south.
Warm air.
Long Shadows.
Very little breeze.

Busy Little Terns had an almost constant flight path from sea to nest site with fish for supper.
Beach Buoy will miss their company so much.
Too much.

A low tide left shingle to search.

A fresh group of teenagers took up residence on the dune edge.
Another group left.

Abuse was shouted.

In complete and total contrast, a Seal popped up to say hello, then goodbye.

Two girls stood at the water's edge watching there loud boyfriends mess about in the sea.
A strange man, dressed just in red shorts stood in a dip in the dunes watching.

A fire burnt beyond the pier.
Black smoke headed skywards.

Beach Buoy and the dogs went up to Stubborn Dog Stack.
A Dad and lad stood on the water's edge just below, beach fishing.
Beach Buoy added some stones to the stack.
"Evening Mate."
He patted
THE
stone.
It was 8-40 p.m.
He sat on a stack stone.
Both dogs laid at his feet.

A Bright Red Ship sailed into the river.

To the north the beach had an end of day look about it.
"See you mate."
The three returned to the beach.

It was still warm.
It was a pleasant warm.

9 p.m.

They headed back to the van.
Their sunshine shadows behind them, becoming taller and thinner minute by minute.

The dad and land fishermen weren't too far behind.

A camper up on the dune edge had removed a large back pack and set up a tent for the night.
A Tired Sun rested in the rooftops of Seaton Carew Village.

Colourful teenagers packed up at the base of the access ramp.

A lone teenager in a black hoodie, hood raised laid nearby, but in a world of their own.

Two children headed down the ramp with late buckets and spades.
It was 9-07 p.m.
Grandad watched them, leaning on the sloping wall just above them.

Beach Buoy and the dogs returned to the van.

Beach Buoy watered the dogs, then himself.
He sat watching a seaside scene go by
Big bore drivers with big bore exhausts drove around the car park.

Beach Buoy drank more fizzy water.

Grandad and the late buckets and spades arrived back at their green camper van.
"What's the crack with putting sand in your hat?"
There was no answer.
"That's just stupid that."

Older teenagers arrived in a couple of cars.
They headed off for a beach party.
"Anyone have petrol?"
Beach Buoy presumed the young man was anxious to be able to drive home...
"So we can light the fire."
 he added after a pause.
😱

An older couple arrived.
They were heading for a late swim.
They didn't have any petrol.

BEACH BUOY.

SATURDAY, 27, MAY 2023. SEATON SANDS, HARTLEPOOL.

Beach Buoy had pulled onto the drive at
12-07 a.m.
He saw what he thought was a very late supermarket delivery taking place.
In fact it was a very early milkman doing his round.
Just over four hours later Beach Buoy and Another Dog reached the beach.

It was 4-28 a.m.

There was a man who watches over the Little Terns, parked up.

Two cars raced across the car park on their way out.

Two young ladies returned to their car after trying the beach in T-shirts and shorts.

It was a bit fresh out

They looked glad to be at their car.

Beach Buoy put his old orange coat on top of his hoodie.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog set off.

Sunrise came at 4-41.
They had just crossed the strand-line.
The tide was way out.

By the time the pair reached the water's edge, the Sun had fully cleared the horizon.

Around eleven minutes after rising the Sun disappeared into low cloud.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog began to head southwards.

They began to head back up to the strand-line.

The reflection on the wet sand was gorgeous.
Beach Buoy pulled up two hoods.
Just because.

At 5-12 a.m. a flock of Geese came in from the sea.
It was a wonderful sight.

They flew northwards along the water's edge for a while.

Shortly afterwards, they landed on the beach.
It was wonderful to witness.

Moments later, another flock flew in from the bay.
This flock chose to head inland.

High in the sky, a bigger bird flew over.

The beach was theirs alone.
Wonderful light spread over The Sea Serpent Marker.
It had been a special start to the day.
The light tipped the balance.
Beach Buoy's eyes filled with grateful tears.

They went to Stubborn Dog Stack.
"Morning Mate."
It was 5-29.
Beach Buoy added some stones.
He patted
THE
stone.
Skylarks sang.
Sand Martins swooped.

"See you mate.'
They returned to the beach.
They headed southwards.

A dune camp.

North End of Sand Martin Corner.

It's odd how the World War Two Traps can become characters.

Beach Buoy likes these two most of all.

Two fishermen walked onto North Gare Pier.
One had already dropped down onto the lower level.

They began to head back to the north.
The tide was working it's way back in.

They had the beach to themselves for almost two hours.
Others appeared to the north but chose not to walk as far as Beach Buoy's location.

Another Dog was proud of her beach-found ball.

It was good to see healthy Starfish in some of the beach pools.

A couple walked hand in hand along the water's edge, southwards.
Their dog ran here, there and everywhere, living it's best life.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog had a slow walk back.

Coffee in van.

By the time they left, they had been at the beach almost fours hours.

It was only 8-25 a.m.

SEATON SANDS HARTLEPOOL. 26, MAY, 2022

Beach Buoy and Another Dog headed to the beach.

Yet again, a lady was trying to pay for parking after 6 p.m. when it is free.

Beach Buoy pulled up.

"Excuse me, it's free after six."

"Pardon."

"The parking is free after six."

"Really?"

"Definitely."

"Thank you."

Beach Buoy parked the van.

It was 6-16 p.m.

It was bright but a sea fret hung in the bay.

A man carried his shoes as he walked along the strand-line.

The man stopped.

He was soon carrying his shirt.

The tide was well out.

Couples walked together alone in their own little worlds.

It was an almost perfect beach.
Low tide.
Sunny.
Cooling breeze.
They headed to Stubborn Dog Stack.

"Evening Mate."
Beach Buoy added seven stones.
He patted
THE
stone.
It was 6-50 p.m.
The man who was carrying his shoes and shirt headed back north, ankle deep in the sea.
A lady in a green wax jacket walked by on the beach below.
She held her phone as if it were a cake that she was about to eat.
Three small black dogs walked with her, as if waiting for crumbs.

"See you mate."
Beach Buoy and Another Dog returned to the beach.
A man headed north carrying his red coat.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog had a slow walk back on the water's edge.
The elderly man with the elderly greyhound were heading south.
Beach Buoy raised an arm of acknowledgement.
The elderly man raised one in return.

A couple headed back to the car park.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog weren't far behind.

A family had set up a barbeque just beyond the south end of the promenade.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog went back to the van.

The kettle went on.

Another lady was nearby trying to pay for parking.

Beach Buoy let her know there was no need.

A man turned away from the access ramp thinking him and his dog weren't welcome.

Beach Buoy put him right.

The council's signage is dreadful.

Beach Buoy chilled back in the van.

WEDNESDAY, 24, MAY. SEATON SANDS, HARTLEPOOL

It had been a very warm day.

It was much cooler now.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog set off in a van that still held the afternoon heat.

They arrived in a very busy beach car park

Lots of children and parents were on the beach for some type of organised event.

The water's edge was quieter.

To the north a few people wandered around.

It was much much quieter to the south.
Beach Buoy and Another Dog headed south.
Although visibility was good, one long and long foghorn blew... Just the once.
The tide was well in so the sea was never that far away.
A rippled grey sea broke onto the beach with a white edge, followed by a seacoal chaser.
Three ladies with three dogs walked north from North Gare Pier.
A couple overtook Beach Buoy and Another Dog.
They were another couple dressed in grey and black. The same as each other but opposite.
The grey and black couple rotated 180 degrees, returning northwards.

Beach Buoy smiled at last night's driftwood bench as if it were an old acquaintance as he passed by it.

They headed to Stubborn Dog Stack.

Beach Buoy added some stones.
He patted
THE
stone.
"Evening Mate."
It was 7-26.
Someone or something has dug a big hole next to the stack.
Beach Buoy refilled the hole using a dragging foot technique.

Beach Buoy watched two Tees Tugs cross from Hartlepool to the River.

"See you mate."
They returned to the beach.

A third Tees Tug played catch up.
The other two had already passed The Sea Serpent.

They continued north.

A lady stood at the water's edge with three barking dogs.

Two lads sat at the end of the promenade wall, music playing loudly.

Maybe trying to impress a group of girls stood just within the dunes in their taste of music?

An older couple sat at the bottom of the access ramp wall, throwing a ball for their old excellent dog.

Beach Buoy went back to the van.

Two Tina Turner songs came on in a row.

She had died.

TUESDAY, 23, MAY. SEATON SANDS HARTLEPOOL.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog arrived
at 6-45 p.m.
As they drove into the car park, a young lady was trying to pay for parking.
Beach Buoy wound down a window.
"It's free after 6."
"Sorry?"
"The parking is free after 6 o'clock "
"That's amazing, thank you "

Beach Buoy parked the van up.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog headed to the beach.

A Grandmother sat as her husband and grandchild played by the sea.
" I'll just wait here."

It was a calm night.
The Wind Turbines stood idle.

A Labrador family played by the sea.

A couple walked up ahead.
The tide was well in.
Little Terns were dropping into the sea, before returning to the nest site, fish in beak.

It was a busy, narrow beach.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog sat on a driftwood bench.
It had a hole in which to rest aching legs.
It was an excellent bench with an excellent view.

In time after a good sit and think, they headed to Stubborn Dog Stack.

"Evening Mate."
Beach Buoy added some stones.
He patted
THE
stone.

A young couple and their dog paused at the stack.
"Aw look it says Stubborn Dog Stack."
The young lady took out her phone to take a photograph .
Beach Buoy told the story of the stack.

He headed off.
The couple stayed.

Back, passing the excellent bench.

Slowly north.

BOB o'clock.

8-08 p.m.

Back in the van.
