26 MAY 2022. SEATON SANDS, HARTLEPOOL.

It was Thursday.

Beach Buoy was extra glad to be on the beach after missing Monday and Wednesday.
Sat in queues as opposed to sand in shoes
The Golf Club Flag was back at half mast.
Another local golfer must have passed?
The flag flapped to the east in a wind from the west.
As they drove into the car park a lady was leaving in a red car, she waved.
The unexpected wave was returned.

It was the litter picking lady, who's dog has a hatred for Shih Tzus but not Lhasa Apsos.

There was a strange collection of people at the top of the access ramp.
They all said their farewells as Beach Buoy approached.
The non-tidal part of the beach was more like a cobbled street as it was a beach
So much sand had gone to sea thanks to the strong winds.
The migration continued.
Sand snaked past them as they walked south.

The strong wind pushed clouds along.
One moment stood in bright sunlight, the next in shade.

The tide was well out.

A man walked the water's edge with a Wolf of a Dog.
The large Dog was off the lead but was clear that it was no threat
The Dog was in its own wonderful world, trotting in and out of the sea at will.

It was a glorious light.
Others, to the north, headed for the sea.
Beach Buoy and Another Dog headed to Stubborn Dog Stack.

Five stones and a handful of shingle were added.
"Evening Mate."
He patted
THE
stone.
He sat at the stack.
He twisted his thermal mug into the dune sand using it as a cup holder.
They stayed twenty minutes.
The coffee was drank.

It was a lovely view from the stack.

They went back to the beach.
Beach Buoy pulled up two hoods.
One to keep the wind out the other to do the same job with the world.
They headed back with a face full of sun and wind.
Down at the water's edge Gulls cried like drowning men as they took flight only for the wind to whisk them out to sea, each press ganged into service.

 Another Dog went on strike.
She had obviously found Stubborn Dog's how to be stubborn book.
They passed five hearts of verious sizes and in some cases, shapes.
One looked more like a cat.
The second largest had
E+A
 written inside, in the sand.
The largest of all had
A+E
on the inner.
Did A love E more than E loved A?
Or was it a sign for medical help required ?

They reached the promenade.
The van rocked in the wind.
Mobile Beach Hut.

TUESDAY, 24, MAY 2022 . SEATON SANDS

Beach Buoy and Another Dog reached the beach car park at 7-15 p.m.
Clouds stood shoulder to shoulder like rugby players in a scrum.

Some clouds were darker than others.

The tide was more way out than a wild guess.

All around showers of rain could be seen falling to ground and sea.

Despite the threat of a soaking, two surfers and three swimmers were in the sea.
Then again they were already wet.

They headed south under big black clouds.
Beach Buoy was ready for the soaking should it arrive.

Offshore rain headed for the Wind Turbines.

A hint of a rainbow appeared behind the Sea Serpent.
Two sets of dog walkers headed north along the strand line.
It rained for a few moments, then stopped.
They headed to Stubborn Dog Stack.

"Evening Mate."
He added stones.
He patted
THE
stone.
Beach Buoy looked around.
It was one of those evenings when partial rainbows appear.
Pouring like waterfalls into a gray sea.
It seemed to brighten.
The change seemed to encourage the Skylarks to take to the air and sing their song.

Beach Buoy did say that he would never have another dog.
Here she is; Another Dog.
She is a splendid dog.

To the east the sky still looked threatening.
Bright Sun picked out the Turbines.
A ship that was almost a boat left the River under a dot to dot rainbow.

The same Bright Sun cast their sunshine shadows.

Someone had marked a Start line.
Then had continued to mark
10
20
30
40
and 50 metre lines.

Full Sun came.
Beach Buoy had set off more than half expecting to be rain- soaked.
He ended up being sun soaked.

A Mermaid Cloud sky swam north.

A man and a dog appeared from the dunes.
They headed north at a quicker pace than Beach Buoy and Another Dog.

SEATON SANDS HARTLEPOOL . 22 MAY 2022.

The alarm went off at 4-15 a.m.
As you can see, Another Dog was quite impressed.
Beach Buoy made a thermal mug of coffee.
They reached the car park at 4-44 a.m.

The sun rose at 4-46.

Seafront windows turned gold, where fitted.

Beach Buoy watched sun rise from the promenade.

The Little Tern nesting site had a wonderful view.

By the time that they had reached the water's edge, the sun was fully clear of the horizon.
No sooner was it up when it began to make plans to slip into some low lying cloud.
Pebbles with legs scampered north.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog headed South.
South was where the moon looked down from.
Today it was a fifty percent moon, cut from top to bottom.
The tide was well out, as far as the Seaton Carew Wreck.
Only it most prominent of timbers were clear of the sand at present.

Beach Buoy paused, looking towards the dunes.
A Little Tern flew by at eye level.
The bird had a small fish which it was taking back to the nesting site.
They continued south on the wide beach.
Theirs were the first prints of the day.
They headed towards
Stubborn Dog Stack.
Beach Buoy collected some beach stones.

"Morning Mate."
He added the stones.
He patted
THE
stone.
It was 5-30 a.m.
He sat on a stack stone with a faceful of sun.
The beach was deserted.

Another Dog seemed to enjoy peace too.
The sea lapped gently onto the beach as industry tumbled on the riverside.
Beach Buoy consumed mouthfuls of coffee and lungs full of beach.

It was a special spot.

"See you mate."
They headed back to the beach.

The beach was still empty.
Half an hour of beach and it's sunrise to themselves.

Beach Buoy kicked a ball for Another Dog to chase as they moved southwards.
They hadn't been to Sand Martin Corner for a while due to tide or state of mind.
Sand Martins flew all around like day shift bats.

Two large birds flew overhead, possibly Egrets?

A Little Tern headed back to the north along the dune edge, performing an unintentional duet with the Skylarks as it did so.

They turned to the north to begin a slow walk back.
It  was 6-12 a.m.
The first of the "Others." appeared ahead.

They eventually approached.
It was the 7 a.m. club.
Mari the big friendly poodle came trotting over for a neck scratch.

They chatted a while.
"See you."
"See you."

Beach Buoy and Another Dog continued their slow walk back.

The breeze picked up.
A glass sea began to ripple.

They sat in the van a while, just because.

BEACH BUOY.

Saturday, 21 May 2022

SEATON SANDS HARTLEPOOL 21 MAY 2022.

Beach Buoy had set Saturday's alarm
 for 4-15 a m.
There was no need.
The dawn chorus burst into song at 3-40.
Beach Buoy was up by 4.
By 4-19 he was locking the front door.
A glance to the left and he could see the Bay's Wind Turbines spinning, seen or not.
By 4-25 Beach Buoy was boiling a pan of water, to make a thermal flask of coffee for the morning's walk.
By 4-35 a.m. feet and paws were on sand.
It was light.
The air on the beach was still.

Over the dunes, a silver moon , sliced in half from top to bottom. Looked like a postage stamp on a Postcard.
Wish you were here?

Out in the bay, beyond the horizon, a ship took aim at The Gares and the river that flowed between them.
Down at the water's edge, a lone pebble with legs picked up its skirts and ran along the sea edge.
The tide was more in than it was out.
The beach was empty of others.

4-48 a.m.
Bang on-time.
The sun peaked over the horizon.
On this beach at least, the sunrise was theirs.

Orange Juice for breakfast.

Windows turned gold, those with glass fitted at least.

The sun offered a pathway.

The Sea Serpent.
They headed south as the sun turned from an orange into a lemon.

They headed up towards the Dune Edge.
The sunlight sprayed a Sand Banksy.

Meanwhile down at the water's edge, Little Terns headed south, then north, then south once more.

Beach Buoy and Another Dog headed for Stubborn Dog Stack.

"Morning Mate ."
Beach Buoy added some stones.
He patted
THE
stone.
It was 5-17 a.m.
Beach Buoy surveyed the beach.
Beach Buoy unscrewed his thermal mug lid.
He took a couple of mouthfuls of hot coffee.
The coffee tasted awful.
Beach Buoy should have just used the kettle.
Pan boiled water tasted bitter, almost burnt, if that were possible.
 "See you mate ."
They headed back to the beach wanting to reach Sand Martin Corner by beach, before the sea claimed the walkway.

In the end, they turned back a little short of their desired destination.

Beach Buoy hadn't wanted

Sand Bubbles..Beach Buoy had.never noticed them before.
